Liga de veteranos do Rio Grande: formas de lazer e singularidades futebolísticas / Rio Grande Veterans league: forms of leisure and soccer singularities

RESUMO

Este artigo é produto de uma dissertação de mestrado que teve como objeto de estudo o Futebol de Veteranos. O corpus empírico da pesquisa foi a Liga de Veteranos do Rio Grande (LVRG), da cidade de Rio Grande, Brasil, mais especificamente a 15ª edição do Campeonato de Veteranos, que ocorreu durante o ano de 2010. Os objetivos principais da pesquisa foram compreender a organização e o funcionamento da LVRG; descrever e analisar os principais acontecimentos futebolísticos que ocorreram durante a 15ª edição do Campeonato de Veteranos. A metodologia utilizada na pesquisa foi a etnografia, aliada a contribuições advindas da história oral. Concluímos que os participantes da liga apropriam-se desse futebol com diferentes objetivos e significados e que a LVRG funciona como um significativo espaço de lazer e sociabilidades, mediado por um futebol que possui uma série de singularidades dentro e fora de campo.

ABSTRACT

This article is the product of a master’s dissertation which aimed to study the Veterans Soccer. The empirical corpus of research was the Rio Grande Veterans League (LVRG), from the city of Rio Grande, Brazil, specifically the 15th edition of the Veterans Championship, which happened during 2010. The main objectives of the research were to understand the organization and functioning of LVRG; to describe and to analyze the major soccer events that occurred during the 15th edition of the Veterans Championship. The methodology used in the research was ethnography, combined with contributions from oral history. We conclude that league’s participants appropriate this soccer with different objectives and meanings and that LVRG functions as a significant area of leisure and sociability, mediated by a soccer that has a series of singularities inside and outside the field.
