Ingestão de água e bebidas por adolescentes: comparação de uma medida autoaplicável com recordatórios de 24 horas / Intake of water and beverages by teenagers: comparing estimates from a self-administered instrument with 24-hour dietary recalls

RESUMO

A frequência da ingestão de água e bebidas pode representar exposição de grande importância para a saúde bucal e há carência de instrumentos para sua mensuração em nível populacional. O objetivo do artigo foi comparar uma medida autoaplicável sobre ingestão de água e bebidas por adolescentes com recordatórios de 24 horas. As estimativas produzidas pelo instrumento foram comparadas com os dados dos R24h e usados como padrão de referência, concluindo que, enquanto instrumentos mais acurados não estejam disponíveis, recomenda-se que as estimativas produzidas por medida autoaplicável semelhante à testada neste estudo sejam consideradas com cautela.

ABSTRACT

The frequency of water and beverage intake can represent an important exposure to oral health; however, there is a lack of assessment instruments to be applied at population level. This study aimed to compare a self-administered instrument on water and beverage intake by teenagers with 24-hour dietary recalls. The estimates obtained from the instrument were compared to 24-hr recalls as a standard reference. It concluded that the values provided by the indirect measure similar to that tested in this study, should be considered with caution while there are no more accurate instruments.
