ABSTRACT
Alcohol consumption among women is increasing at an accelerated and rate aggravating. Understanding the expectations and beliefs that elicit this consumption becomes extremely relevant. This study aimes to compare differences and similarities in beliefs and expectations of alcohol use in women with patterns of consumption risk (MCR) and women without risk (MSR). It is a cross-sectional study, the association of variables in which 88 women were evaluated, using the instruments IECPA, AUDIT and MMSE. The results showed that the MCR group has more positive beliefs about alcohol consumption than the MSR group analyzing the total score of IECPA and comparing their averages. The MCR Group achieved a score above the cutoff of the instrument (121.82) featuring vulnerability to alcohol dependence. The findings of this study corroborate the literature and indicate the need for prevention programs for this population.(AU)
