ABSTRACT
Alzheimer′s disease increases rapidly its global incidence and prevalence, and it is currentlyconsidered as one of the main public health problems in the world. This disorder is characterized bythe formation in the brain of amyloid protein aggregates and neurofibrillary tangles. Nowadays andwith diagnostic purposes certain biochemical and neuroimaging biomarkers can be quantified. Thestrategy for biomarkers has a tendency towards their combined use for the improvement of thedisease clinical dignosis, as well as for the differenciation of the Alzheimer′s disease in control andsubjects; also to differentiate it from other dementias, treatment evaluation and even in theprediction of the evolution of patients with a mild cognitive deterioration.
