Envejecer y parecer joven: obstáculos y consecuencias / Ageing and looking young: Obstacles and Consequences

RESUMEN

En la época actual desde los medios de comunicación se trasmiten valores e ideales que apuntan a hipervalorar la imagen, la juventud, la apariencia, el espectáculo dimensionando lo estético y lo escópico y dejando en un lugar por completo secundario al aspecto ético. En este panorama cuál es el lugar que se ofrece al sujeto que envejece. En este pequeño ensayo nos proponemos reflexionar sobre la incidencia de los ideales culturales en subjetividad del adulto mayor, ya que los enunciados provenientes del discurso social influyen en el proyecto identificatorio que da sentido al ser y al hacer del sujeto.

ABSTRACT

At the present time the media transmit values and ideals pointing to promote image, youth, appearance, the “showing”, thus giving preponderance to the aesthetic and the visuals, and leaving in an absolute secondary place the ethical aspects. In this scenario what is the place offered to the subject who is aging? In this short essay we want to reflect on the impact of cultural ideals from the elderly's subjectivity viewpoint since social discourse statements do have an influence in the self-identification process that gives meaning to the subject’s being and doings.
