RESUMO
Objetivo:
Descrever o perfil dos agricultores que trabalham na horticultura no Município de São José de Princesa-PB,quanto a produção e o conhecimento no manejo de agrotóxicos nas plantações e sua relação com a saúde. Material eMétodos:
Pesquisa transversal com abordagem qualitativa,realizada com 12 agricultores no Município de São José de Princesa-PB.Resultados:
Verificou-se que a produção realizada dentro da horticultura por esses agricultores é bastante diversificada e que representa a principal forma de subsistência das famílias. A falta de conhecimento sobre ouso correto de compostos químicos como os adubos e agrotóxicos, foi destacada como o principal risco à saúde dessa população.Conclusão:
A implementação de capacitações contínuas seria uma estratégia de se evitar ou minimizar danos futuros.ABSTRACT
Objective:
To describe the profile of farmers working inhorticultures in the municipality of São José de Princesa, PB,Brazil, with regard to the production and knowledge on the management of pesticides used in plantations and their relationto health. Material andmethods:
This was a cross-sectional survey with a qualitative approach, carried out with 12farmers in the municipality of São José de Princesa, PB.Results:
it was found that farmers production within the horticulture is quite diverse and represents the main form of livelihood for their families. The lack of knowledge about the correct use of chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides was highlighted as the main risk to the health of the population.Conclusion:
It is concluded that the implementation of continuous training would be a strategy to prevent or minimize future damages.
