Ovulation research begins: WHO assists RP study.

PIP: The World Health Organization (WHO) is sponsoring clinical studies in El Salvador, India, Ireland, New Zealand, and the Philippines into the Ovulation Method (OM) of birth control. The method, a variation of the rhythm method, involves a woman's self-analysis of the wetness or dryness of her genital area. Wetness would indicate imminent ovulation and sexual activity could be regulated accordingly. Advantages of OM are: 1) acceptability to Catholics, 2) no necessity for basal temperature taking, 3) easy charting, and 4) no complications and side effects.
