Este artigo desenvolve algumas considerações sobre a abordagem depacientes complexos, com ênfase na importância da construção de umsetting estruturado e estável, da compreensão e dos manejos adequadosda contratransferência. Examinam-se contribuições e limitações de duaspsicoterapias mais atuais dirigidas a pacientes com Transtorno Borderlinede Personalidade, a psicoterapia focada na transferência e a baseada namentalização e se ilustra, a partir do caso clínico em discussão, parte dadinâmica das díades de relações de objeto envolvidas

ABSTRACT

This article reflects on the approach given to complex patients, emphasizingthe importance of both establishing a structured and stable setting, and alsothe appropriate understanding and management of the countertransference.The contributions and limitations of two current psychotherapeutic approacheswhich focus on patients with Borderline Personality Disorder – the psychotherapy focused on transference and the one based on metalization – areexamined. It is illustrated, from the clinical case under discussion, part of thedynamic of the dyads of the object relations involved
