Este trabalho tem por objetivo fazer uma primeira abordagem sobre o tema da biopolítica – conceito cunhado por Michel Foucault – e sua relação com psicanálise, verificando em quais aspectos esta cumpre um papel biopolítico e em quais não, com base no estudo de textos do período genealógico de Michel Foucault. Nota-se que a psicanálise, ao negar a degenerescência, assume um papel contestador da biopolítica; mas, em outros momentos, pode revelar-se como um instrumento a seu favor.AU

ABSTRACT

This work intends to approach the theme of biopolitics – a concept created by Michel Foucault – and its relationship to psychoanalysis. It aims to investigate in what aspects psychoanalysis fulfils a biopolitical role and in what aspects it does not, based on texts from Michel Foucault’s genealogic period. We notice that when psychoanalusis denies the degeneration theory, it contests biopolitics; however, in other moments, it can be a biopolitical instrument.AU
