A formação da identidade e de redes sociais na família de imigrantes italianos no Brasil / Identity building and social network in italian immigrant

RESUMO

O Brasil é uma nação intercultural, com as mais diversas etnias. Este artigo pretende estudar o fenômeno migratório e compreender as implicações de se sair de seu país de origem, se fixar num novo país e criar novas raízes; o foco encontra-se nos processos de migração, de adaptação sócio-cultural, de aculturação e de integração do imigrante italiano e seus descendentes, na formação da sua identidade. Este estudo trata da imigração de italianos para o Brasil e a atual emigração dirigida à Itália; os dados desta são baseados do trabalho de Maurizio Andolfi e da equipe da Fondazione Silvano Andolfi. A rede social é um depositário fundamental da identidade; o deslocamento de uma família para um novo país resulta num processo de desenraizamento em vários estágios. O imigrante vive “sentado entre duas cadeiras”; é preciso resgatar e dignificar suas raízes para poder se apropriar do imenso potencial de pertencer às duas culturas (AU)

ABSTRACT

Brazil is an intercultural nation, with diverse etnias. This article intends to study the migratory phenomenon and to understand the implications of leaving the original country, getting established in a new country and bulding roots. The focus is the Italian migration processes, its social-cultural adaptation, acculturation and integration of the Italian immigrant and their descendants, and the impact on their identity formation. This study is about the Italian imigration to Brazil and recent emigration to Italy; the latter based on the Maurizio Andolfi’s work and the team work of the Fondazione Silvano Andolfi. The social network is an essential depositary of the identity; the deslocation of a family to a new country results in an uprooting process with several stages. The immigrant lives ‘sitting down between two chairs’; he needs to recover and to dignify his roots in order to, adequately, be able to use the very large potential of belonging to two cultures (AU)
