ABSTRACT
This paper discusses the male malaise in the contemporary scene, taking into account the context of anxiety installed in the field of masculinity in the face of demands that are imposed on the "new man". We theorises that anguish and distress are related to changes in contemporary Identification correlateded with the representations waver based on oedipal context. So, we try to discuss how this "new man" which is constructed by the media discourse, as a social imaginary about virility, causing what might be called identity crisis. Finally, we support the idea that the crisis of male identity, with its harrowing effect, relates to a certain decline of the father, with their varied effects on the social bond.(AU)
