Grafitos de banheiro e diferenças de gênero: o que os banheiros têm a dizer? / Bathroom graffiti and gender differences: what would restrooms tell?

RESUMO

Grafitos de banheiro (N = 989) foram coletados em três instituições de Ensino Superior localizadas na cidade de João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brasil, e classificados em dezessete categorias de conteúdo, com o objetivo de investigar diferenças de gênero nesse tipo de expressão humana. A análise utilizada para detectar as principais diferenças foi o teste do Qui-Quadrado, com o auxílio do programa estatístico SPSS. As categorias mais representativas do gênero masculino (p £ 0,05) foram presença, esportes, insulto e humor. Por sua vez, as categorias mais representativas do gênero feminino foram religião, filosofia e romantismo. A partir dos resultados encontrados nesta pesquisa independente, verifica-se que o banheiro público constitui um espaço que retrata o imaginário de grupos sociais e de representação da cultura popular(AU)

ABSTRACT

Bathroom graffiti (N = 989) were collected in three higher education institutions localized in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil, and classified into seventeen content categories, with the objective of investigating gender differences in this type of human expression. The analysis used to detect the main differences was the Chi-Square test, with the help of the statistical software SPSS. The most representative male gender categories (p £ 0,05) were presence, sports, insult, and humor. On the other hand, the most representative female gender categories were religion, philosophy, and romanticism. The results through this independent research indicate that public bathrooms are considered to be places for the expression of social groups imaginary, as well as for the representation of popular culture(AU)
