Síndrome da fadiga crônica: a perspectiva analítico-comportamental de um caso clínico / Chronic fatigue syndrome: a behavior analytical perspective of a clinical report

RESUMO

A literatura acerca do tratamento da síndrome da fadiga crônica (SFC) recomenda a psicoeducação de pacientes e suas famílias como poderoso recurso para combater a discriminação de portadores e a piora dos sintomas como dor e fadiga. Terapias nas abordagens cognitiva e comportamental visam promover a atividade física regular de moderada intensidade, identificar e intervir sobre estressores psicológicos e aceitação da SFC como uma condição médica que propicia oportunidades para uma vida significativa e satisfatória. Será relatado e discutido o breve tratamento analítico-comportamental de uma mulher de trinta anos acometida por SFC. A discussão enfatizará o efeito diferencial de dois contextos de vida da paciente sobre a ocorrência de comportamentos respondentes e operantes relacionados à dor, recolhimento social e incapacitação ocupacional ou à ativação comportamental, interação social e bem-estar.(AU)

ABSTRACT

The literature about treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) recommends psychoeducation of patients and their families as a powerful resource against discrimination of probands and worsening of symptoms as pain and fatigue. Cognitive and behavior therapies should be offered in order to help promoting regular physical activity of moderate intensity, identify and intervene upon psychological stressors and acceptance of CFS as a medical condition that allows opportunities for a significant and satisfactory life. It will be reported and discussed a brief behavior-analytic treatment of a 30-year-old woman living with CFS for five years. The discussion will emphasize the differential effect exerted upon respondent and operant behaviors related to pain, social withdrawal and occupational impairment or related to behavioral activation, social interaction and well-being.(AU)
