Apontamentos sobre o atentar contra a própria vida, homofobia e adolescências / Notes on attempts against life, homophobia and adolescences

RESUMO

Trata-se de um estudo piloto transversal analítico descritivo realizado em maio de 2008 em uma Escola do Ensino Médio de uma cidade do interior do Oeste paulista. A amostra que compôs o estudo corresponde a 108 adolescentes, de ambos os sexos, entre 14 e 20 anos cursando as três séries do Ensino Médio. Observamos que os/as jovens da amostra incorporaram o discurso preventivista pelo menos durante as primeiras relações sexuais com o sexo oposto. Suas crenças sobre as sexualidades não-heterossexuais revelaram-se homofóbicas e segregatórias. Encontramos que 25.0% da amostra já pensou em se matar e dentre estes 40% já tentou, havendo maior concentração entre as jovens. Acreditamos estar diante de um grande desafio para as políticas públicas de Educação e Saúde, respectivamente, no sentido de garantir o acesso e pleno direito de expressão das homossexualidades no espaço escolar, bem como lidarem de modo preventivo em relação à Saúde Mental dos/das jovens que freqüentam a escola. ABSTRACT

This paper discusses data from a pilot analytical traverse descriptive study accomplished in May of 2008 in a Public High School in a city of the interior of the Western São Paulo State, Brazil. The sample that composed this study corresponds to 108 adolescents of both sexes, aging between 14 and 20 years and registered in the one of the three series of the high school period. We noticed that the adolescents from this sample assimilated the prevention speech at least during their first sexual relationships. Their belives in no-heterosexual sexualities revealed to be homophobic and segregating. We found that 25.0% of the sample already thought about killed themselves and among these 40% already tried, having larger concentration among female students. It seems to be a great challenge for the public Education and Health policies, respectively, in the sense of guaranteeing the access and full right of expression of homosexualities in the school environment as well as working towards a preventive way in relation to youth’s Mental Health Mental in this context.
