Qualidade de vida, percepção da dinâmica familiar e do suporte social em idosos / Quality of life, perception of the familiar dynamics and the social support in aged

RESUMO

O suporte social e familiar se constitui elemento importante para os idosos enfrentarem as adversidades na velhice e para uma boa qualidade de vida. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar o suporte social, a funcionalidade familiar e a qualidade de vida percebida em idosos. Participaram 364 idosos residentes na comunidade de Patos de Minas-MG. Os idosos foram entrevistados em seu domicílio utilizando-se os instrumentos a) APGAR de Família; b) ISEL Reduzido - Interpersonal Support Evaluation; c) Escala de Qualidade de Vida de Flanagan. De modo geral, os idosos mostraram ter suporte social, satisfação com a dinâmica familiar e com a qualidade de vida. O presente estudo aponta para a importância da família no provimento de suporte na velhice. Conviver de forma saudável com o parente idoso, ampará-lo quando necessário, especialmente quando existem problemas associados ao comprometimento físico e cognitivo, são elementos importantes para uma dinâmica familiar positiva.(AU)

ABSTRACT

The social and family support constitutes important element to the aged face the adversities in the oldness and for a good quality of life. The aim of this study was to investigate the social support, familiar functionality and the quality of life perceived in aged. The subjects of the study were 364 aged residents in the community of Patos, Minas-MG. They had been interviewed in its domicile through the instruments a) APGAR de Família; b) ISEL Reduzido - Interpersonal Support Evaluation; c) Escala de Qualidade de Vida de Flanagan. In general, the elderly had shown to have social support, satisfaction with the family dynamics and the quality of life. The present study shows the importance of the family in the provisions of support in the oldness. To live healthfully with an aged relative, to support when necessary, especially when there are problems associated to physical and cognitive impairments, they are important elements for a positive family dynamics.(AU)
