Sintomas de velhos? / Symptoms of olds?

RESUMO

Comumente se escuta a frase ”sintomas da velhice” como se, a partir de certa idade,sobretudo após a meia idade, o sujeito começasse, inevitavelmente, a ter sintomas que o inscreveriano conjunto de “velhos”. Se a psicanálise não tem como operar com “patologias” da velhice,ela trata dos sintomas enquanto subjetivados e nos quais os sujeitos encontram-se implicados.Esse artigo visa problematizar a ideia de sintomas de velhos, tendo como eixo algumas indicaçõesfreudianas e lacanianas sobre a função do sintoma sua aliança com um gozo sempre singular.Não existe homogeneidade de gozo e, portanto, não existem sintomas de velhos.

ABSTRACT

We frequently hear the expression “symptoms of aging” as if, from a certain age on, especiallyafter the middle-age years, people would inevitably start expressing symptoms that includethem in the group of “the elderly”. While psychoanalysis cannot operate with the “pathologies” ofold age, it aims at treating the symptoms in a subjective way while engaging with the subject. Thisarticle proposes the discussion of the idea of symptoms of aging by relying on some Freudian andLacanian indications on the function of the symptom and its alliance with an ever unique kindof enjoyment. There is no uniformity of enjoyment and, therefore, there are no symptoms pertainingto the elderly per se.
