ABSTRACT
The title of journalist Ali Kamels work We are not racists was selected as the support to discuss the text The Negative (1925), in which Freud synthesizes most of his work about the statement that is actually said and what the unconscious hears. Arguing that the negative can be understood as this is something I would rather repress, Freud invites us to discard the no from what is said. In this sense, this paper intends to discuss the Freudian text in order to reflect about the title mentioned which, although it belongs to one author, is emblematic of a rather collective voice.(AU)
