RESUMO

O artigo analisa as mudanças que a noção de inconsciente sofre nos primeiros trabalhos de Freud com a introdução do conceito de recalque. Tomando como base o modelo de divisão da consciência concebido na chamada primeira psiquiatria dinâmica, Freud introduz alterações significativas no entendimento sobre os mecanismos que provocam o surgimento da "segunda consciência" e sua ação patológica, além de determinar o caráter sexual do material que dá origem ao inconsciente. O artigo também mostra como as mudanças na técnica terapêutica e a formulação do conceito de resistência levou Freud a abandonar o modelo da divisão da consciência e a conceber o primeiro modelo psíquico da história da psicanálise.(AU)

ABSTRACT

This article analyzes the changes that the notion of the unconscious went through in Freud's first works due to the introduction of the concept of repression. Based on the model of the division of the consciousness taken from the first dynamic psychiatry, Freud introduces significant changes on the understanding of the mechanisms that create the "second consciousness" and their pathologic action. He also determinates the sexual character of the material that originates the unconscious. This article also shows how the change in the therapeutic techniques and the formulation of the concept of resistance lead Freud to abandon the model of the division of the consciousness and to conceive the first psychological model of psychoanalytic history.(AU)
