ABSTRACT
Electrical status epilepticus in sleep (ESES)is a specific electroencephalographic pattern, clinical syndromes related to ESES including Landau-Kleffner syndrome, atypical benign partial epilepsy, epileptic encephalopathy with continuous spike waves during sleep. These disorders represent a clinical spectrum with several common features.Although ESES is a self-limited disorder, but early treatment with effective therapy to ameliorade the ESES pattern is essential for improvement in neuropsychological outcome. There is no unified treatment plan recommended now.Common clinical treatment options include antiepileptic drugs, hormone therapy, intravenous immunoglobulin, ketogenic diet, surgical treatment, but the curative effect varies.More multi-center studies are needed to find the most proper treatment.
