ABSTRACT

Objective:

To analyze the expressions of myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) in cancer tissue and adjacent tissue of the patients with colorectal cancer and to explore the relationships between its expression and the clinicopathological parameters and the prognosis of the patients with colorectal cancer, and to clarify the clinical significance of MyD88 expression.

Methods:

A total of 90 cases of tumor tissue and adjacent tissue of the patients with colorectal cancer were collected and their clinical pathological materials were analyzed. The expressions of MyD88 in tumor tissue and adjacent tissue of the colorectal cancer patients were detected by immunohistochemistry. The expression levels of MyD88 in different tissues were analyzed by Image-Pro Plus 6. 0 software. Kaplan-Meier method was used for survival analysis in the 90 patients with colorectal cancer.

Results:

The expression level of MyD88 in colorectal cancer tissue was significantly higher than that in adjacent colorectal cancer tissue (P<0. 001). The MyD88 expression level had no correlations with the age, gender, tumor size and histologreal differentiation of the patients with colorectal cancer (P<0. 05). The MyD88 expression level had correlations with the clinical stage, T stage, M stage and lymph node metastasis (P<0. 05). The survival rate of the patients with colorectal cancer with higher expression of MyD88 was significantly lower than that of the patients with colorectal cancer with low expression of MyD88 (P<0. 05).

Conclusion:

MyD88 is highly expressed in colorectal cancer tissue and it is associated with the clinical stage, T stage, M stage, and the situation of lymph node metastasis of the patients with colorectal cancer.
