Coma mixedematoso é definido como uma forma de hipotireoidismo muito severo, que ocasiona decréscimo da consciência, hipotermia e outros sintomas relacionados à diminuição da função tireoidiana, afetando múltiplos órgãos. Trata-se de uma emergência que deve ser prontamente reconhecida e tratada, devido a alta mortalidade.

ABSTRACT

Myxedema coma is defined as severe hypothyroidsm leadind to decreased mental status, hypothermia and other symptoms related to impairment of thyroid function, afecting multiple organs. It is an emergency and should be immediately treated and recognized since the mortality is very high.
