Buscando uma chance para o filho vir a ser: a experiência do pai na unidade de terapia intensiva / Seeking a chance for the child to become: the father's experience in the intensive care unit

RESUMO

O presente estudo objetiva desvelar a experiência do pai cujo filho encontra-se em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Pediátrica, utilizando a pesquisa qualitativa, sob a perspectiva fenomenológica de Martin Heidegger, para analisar os discursos obtidos por entrevistas. Esta análise permitiu identificar três temas que configuram aquela vivência em Transformando seu medo em esperança; Percebendo-se como tomador de decisões e Agindo em benefício do filho. Estes temas desocultaram o fenômeno Buscando uma Chance para o Filho Vir a Ser, revelando que, para isso, o pai expões o filho aos riscos e tratamentos que forem necessários, indicando que suas ações e a constante superação de seus sentimentos objetivam oferecer ao filho uma oportunidade para viver com plenitude.

ABSTRACT

This study intended to analyse the experience of fathers who have sons in a Intensive Care Unit, by applying the qualitative research under phenomenologycal perspective of Martin Heidegger, in order to identify three themes which portrait that experience Transforming Fear into Hope, Perceive Oneself as a Decision Maker and Acting on Son's Behalf. These themes revealed the following phenomenon To Seek a Chance of Life for One's Son. That reveals the aim of fathers who face their feelings when expose their sons to riscking treatments in order to provide then better chances of a plentiful life.
