Afetividade e conflito nas díades familiares, capacidade funcional e expectativa de cuidado de idosos / Affection and conflict in the family, functional capacity and expectation of care of the elderly

RESUMO

Avaliou-se a percepção de idosos quanto à afetividade e conflito nas díades familiares com cônjuge, filhos e netos, e suas associações com o sexo, a idade, a capacidade funcional e a expectativa de cuidado. Participaram 134 idosos do interior da Bahia, sem déficit cognitivo. A tipologia predominante nas díades familiares foi Alta Afetividade e Baixo Conflito. A percepção de alta afetividade no relacionamento conjugal foi maior entre homens e idosos independentes e no relacionamento com os filhos foi maior entre mulheres. A percepção de alto conflito no relacionamento com filhos foi mais frequente entre homens e idosos com dependência. A percepção de afetividade e conflito associou-se com a expectativa de ser cuidado por filhos, cônjuges e netos. O papel de cuidadora da mulher favorece uma relação afetiva mais próxima na díade com os filhos, mas por outro lado lhe impõe sobrecarga afetando a percepção de afetividade no relacionamento conjugal.(AU)

ABSTRACT

We investigated the elderly's perception about affection and conflict in relationship with spouse, children and grandchildren, and their associations with sex, age, functional capacity and the expectation of care. Participated 134 elderly from Bahia-Brazil, without cognitive deficit. The predominant typology in the family was High Affectivity and Low Conflict. The perception of high affection in the marital relationship was higher among men and among the independent ones and in the relationship with children was higher among women. The perception of high conflict in relationships with children was more common among men and the elderly with dependency. The perception of affection and conflict was associated with the expectation of being care by children, spouses and grandkids. The woman's caregiver role favors close affective relationship with the children, but on the other hand imposes burden affecting the perception of affectivity in the marital relationship.(AU)
