Fallecidos por Meningoencefalitis Bacteriana en menores de 15 años en la provincia Ciego de Ávila / Deceased patients due to bacterial meningo-encephalitis in patients under fifteen years of age in Ciego de Avila province

RESUMEN

Se realizó un Estudio Observacional Descriptivo con el objetivo de describir el comportamiento epidemiológico de los Fallecidos menores de 15 años por Meningoencefalitis Bacteriana en la provincia de Ciego de Ávila en el periodo comprendido entre enero de 1990 y diciembre del 2004. El universo de estudio estuvo constituido por 46 pacientes fallecidos por Meningoencefalitis Bacteriana y Enfermedad Meningocóccica en el periodo antes señalado. Los datos fueron obtenidos a través del reporte anual del Dpto. Provincial de Estadísticas. Los menores de 5 años constituyeron el 80,4 por ciento de los fallecidos en nuestra investigación. No ocurrieron fallecidos por Enfermedad Meningocóccica en el período, en menores de un año y en la mayoría de los fallecidos no se encontró el agente causal. Los municipios de Ciego de Ávila, Primero de Enero y Morón tuvieron la mayor incidencia y un alto índice de fallecidos ocurrieron entre 1990 y 1994.

ABSTRACT

A descriptive observational study was conducted with the purpose of describing the epidemiologie behavior of the deceased ptaitns under 15 years of age due to Bacterial meningo-encephalitis in Ciego de Avila province in the time period from January 1990 and December 2004. The sample comprised 46 dicesased patients due to Bacterial Meningo-encephalitis in the aforementioned period. Data were gathered from the yearly report of the provincial satistics department. Minors under 5 years of age constituted (80,4%) of the deceased in our investigation. No infanr death ocurred by the meningo-coccal disease in the period; the causative agent was not found. The highest incidence was that of the municipalities of Ciego de Avila, Primero de Enero and Morón and there was a high rate of diceased between 1990 and 1994.
