Coinfección pulmonar por citomegalovirus y Cryptoccocus sp. en una paciente con infección por VIH / Pulmonary co-infection due to Cytomegalovirus and Cryptococcus sp. in an HIV infected patient

RESUMEN

Se presenta el caso de una mujer de 31 años, con diagnóstico de infección por el virus de inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) por seis años y sin tratamiento antirretroviral. Ingresa al Servicio de Emergencia con un cuadro de insuficiencia respiratoria aguda severa y recibió tratamiento antituberculoso y cotrimoxazol para Pneumocystis jiroveci; con evolución desfavorable que terminó en muerte a las 48 horas del ingreso. El hallazgo anatomopatológico del parénquima pulmonar reveló la presencia de Citomegalovirus y Cryptococcus sp.

ABSTRACT

A 31 year-old woman, with a six year history of HIV infection and without treatment, entered to the emergency ward with acute and severe respiratory distress for which she received antituberculous treatment and cotrimoxazole for Pneumocystis jiroveci. After a declining condition, the patient died at 48 hours after admission. The histopathological study of the lung parenchyma revealed Cytomegalovirus and Cryptococcus sp. infections.
