RESUMO

A Odontologia Minimamente Invasiva (OMI) exerce o respeito sistemático aos tecidos originais, isso implica no reconhecimento de que materiais restauradores tem um valor biológico menor do que os tecidos originais; compreende a preservação e a manutenção da saúde oral por meio do acompanhamento periódico do paciente, a fim de avaliar o risco às doenças cárie, periodontal e oclusal (não cariosasl. Além disso, realiza o diagnóstico de doenças crônicas e a intervenção mínima em casos que necessitem de tratamento. Um dos pontos altos da OMI é o comprometimento do paciente com a abordagem de promoção de saúde, assumindo a responsabilidade dos cuidados diários com a higiene oral, alimentação adequada e uso de placa interoclusal, quando recomendada, que são fundamentais para a preservação e a manutenção de sua dentição natural por toda vida.

ABSTRACT

The Minimally Invasive Oentistry that consistently performs to the original tissue, this implies the recognition that restorative materiais have a lower biological value than the original tissue; includes the preservation and maintenance of oral health through regular monitoring of the patient in order to assess the risk for caries, periodontal and occlusal (not carious) diseases. Additionally, performs the diagnosis of chronic disease and minimal intervention in cases requiring treatment. One of the highlights of the MIO is the commitment of the patient with the approach of health promotion, assuming the responsibility of daily oral hygiene care, proper nutrition and use when recommended interocclusal plate, which are fundamental to the preservation and maintenance of their natural dentition for lifetime.
