ABSTRACT
The osteoarthritis is a multifactorial etiology pathology that isdirectly linked to the functional deficit in elderly people. This workaimed to analyze the balance through the comparison betweenelderly with knee osteoarthritis and asymptomatic ones, practicingphysical activities. The non-randomized study, transversal, consisting of a sample with 20 patients split in 2 groups whosecomponents answered the Lequesne Questionary, that evaluatesthe level of pain and physical mobility, Berg Balance Scale, manualstrength test and goniometry of the knee push up and extension. No significant difference was observed in relation to the balancebetween the groups, however a goniometric and muscular strengthmodification was observed (p < 0.01). The Lequesne test proved tobe a very significant tool for evaluating patients with osteoarthritisand showed significant difference between groups (p < 0.0001).
