RESUMO

Analisa o pioneirismo de Abílio Cesar Borges (1827 - 1891), educador baiano deformação médica, como Diretor Geral de Instrução Pública da Província da Bahia, fundacolégios renovadores nos Estados da Bahia, Rio de Janeiro e Minas Gerais. Luta contra oanalfabetismo e a escravidão no nosso país. Autor de vários livros didáticos. Sua concepçãode educação é inovadora, pois preocupa-se com a qualificação docente, a adequação domaterial instrucional, na relação interpessoal professor-aluno e o ambiente aberto para oensino. Elabora o Aparelho Escolar Múltiplo com o objetivo de facilitar o processo ensinoaprendizagem,o que o qualifica como precursor da tecnologia de ensino no Brasil.Representante brasileiro em diversos eventos de educação a nível internacional. Váriostítulos e comendas lhe são outorgados por sua atuação pioneira no ensino, antecipando,de alguma forma, o desenvolvimento de várias teorias de aprendizagem(AU)

ABSTRACT

This article analyses the pioneer vision of Abílio César Borges (1827 - 1891), aBahia native educator with a medical formation who founded renewing schools in the statesof Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.He fights against illiteracy and slavery in our country. Author of several didatic books. His conception on education is innovative,preoccupied with the qualification of the teaching staff, the proper instructional material, inthe inter-personal relationship teacher-student and the open environment for the teaching.He prepares the “Multiple-School Equipment” with the objective of facilitating the teaching-learning process, which qualifies him as the forerunner of teaching technology in Brazil.He represented Brazil in several international educational events, and received a number oftitles and awards for his pioneering performance in the education area, anticipating to acertain degree the development of various apprenticeship theories(AU)
