ABSTRACT
Phacoemulsification, an effective surgical method in the treatment of cataracts, is widely used in clinics.Traditional cataract surgery is difficult, risky and has a poor prognosis for special intractable cataract patients.Minimally invasive pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) is the a preeminent assistive technique to treat cataracts and their relative complications.Application and surgical techniques of combined cataract extraction with PPV in the intractable cataract complicated with malignant glaucoma, posterior capsular defect, post-PPV, ectopia lentis, aphakic eyes without sufficient capsular support, and perioperative complications are discussed, and it is necessary for eye doctors to put into effect a standardized and guiding relevant diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
