Encephalopathia saturnina: report of a case

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to call the attention of the medical profession to the ever-increasing industrial diseases in the Islands. A case of encephalopathia saturnina is here to reported, which, to the best of our knowledge, seems to be the first of its kind in the Philippines. The case comes from one of the printing establishments in Manila. The importance of a careful history especially in relation to occupational hazards is emphasizedFor those who have not had the occasion to read about lead poisoning, points such as lead absorption and excretion, symptoms, industries in the Islands where such a disease is liable to occur, its prevention and treatment, have been briefly touched. For a more thorough understanding of the subject, however, the reader is referred to the literature.(Summary)
