ABSTRACT

The study concluded that materal mortality was was high with a rate of 193/100;000 live births. Although many causes are preventable; many mothers continue to deliver at home and only come to a health facility when problems have developed. This may be a reflection of the low levels of literacy of mothers and fathers. There is need for adequate trained personnel in this area and improved transport and telecommunication links between health facilities
