ABSTRACT

To report the results of seric neuron specific enolase in pediatric neuroblastoma. Our retrospective study concerns 21 children treated in our institution from 1992 to 1998 for neuroblastoma. Seric NSE was determined by immunoenzymology technique at different stages of the disease and the treatment Mean value for the 39 dosages of the whole patients was 127.9 ng/ml with a sensitivity of 56 percent five patients has presented normal values. Mean value for the 18 patients in stage IV was 132.38 ng/ml. we also observed in 3 patients, an evolution of the seric NSE parallel to this of the disease under chemotherapy. NSE represents a moderate sensitive and specific tumor marker for pediatric neuroblastoma. However, it represents a good value in prognosis and follow-up after chemotherapy

ABSTRACT

In this study we have compared the prevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis specific seru IgM and IgA antibodies in 42 persons with Chlamydia positive total antibodies. IgM antibodies were found in 21% of persons. IgA were found in 50% of the cases. The interest of lgA detection is discussed, particularly towards deep infections where they could be an argument of an active infection

ABSTRACT

We report the results of a comparative study in vitro activity of five aminoglycosides: Streptomycin, Kanamycin, Gentamicin, Tobramicin and Amikacin against 397 strains of hospital. 64 to 98% of susceptible strains were observed according to aminoglycoside compoud. Amikacin and Tobramicin were the most effective specially against serratia. The most frequent phenotypes were studied particulary those including Amikacin resistance. The phenotypes were essentially found in klebsiella [3%]. And Enterobacter [4%]. The most frequent phenotype were GT [associated frequently with resistance for Streptomycin and Kanamycin]. From study of in vitro activity of five aminoglycosides against more frequently resistant bacteria such as KES, we propose what should be done in the laboratory to provide help for antibiotic choice
