ABSTRACT
A curve fitting program has been used to facilitate the calculation of orthogonal function coefficients for equally and non-equally spaced points during spectrophotometric analysis. The program can accept up to 100 pairs of X, Y values, and can calculate up to the seventh order coefficient. The self-generation of the orthogonal polynomials up to p7 is the main characteristic advantage of the program

Program EvaluationABSTRACT
A program written in BASIC was designed for the simultaneous convolution of absorption curves using the quartic, P4, and quintic, P5, orthogonal polynomials. Up to 80 absorbances and 17-point orthogonal polynomials can be accommodated

Software/statistics & numerical dataABSTRACT
In this study, ratios of Fourier to orthogonal function coefficients were used to locate the exact compensation point of either component in a mixture of two absorbing compounds with overlapping spectra. A computer program in Basic was written to facilitate the calculations behind the method

Software/statistics & numerical dataABSTRACT
In this study, two programs were written in BASIC to facilitate the calculation of orthogonal function coefficients. The first dealt with the convolution process using the exact orthogonal polynomials for the first six terms. The convolution was carried out using 6-point orthogonal polynomials. The program can accept up to 80 readings, 17 points orthogonal polynomials at 1-3 intervals. The second was used for the transformation of the absorption curves using the comparative coefficients. The calculated values of Qj did not change, whether the true polynomials or multiples of the polynomials were used for the calculation of the coefficients
