ABSTRACT
A orientação aos pais no processo de diagnóstico da deficiência auditiva (DA) e adaptação do aparelho de amplificação sonora individual (AASI) tende a minimizar suas angústias, auxiliar na aceitação e facilitar a interação e o desenvolvimento do filho. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o conhecimento de pais de crianças já usuárias (Grupo 1) e recém-adaptadas com AASI (Grupo 2), sobre alguns aspectos da DA e do uso do AASI. No acompanhamento após a adaptação foram aplicados questionários a pais de 38 crianças com perda auditiva neurossensorial bilateral, de grau leve a profundo, menores de 10 anos, atendidas no Cedalvi-HRAC-USP. Os resultados demonstraram melhor conhecimento do Grupo 1 e permitiram confirmar que a participação dos pais na adaptação do AASI é fundamental e está relacionada ao conhecimento que eles têm sobre a DA.
Guidance for parents in hearing aid (HA) diagnosis process and the fitting of an appliance for individual sound amplification (AASI) tends to minimize their afflictions, to help the acceptance and to favor child development and interaction. It was the aim of this study to assess the knowledge of parents of children that are already users (Group 1) and those that had just received the AASI (Group 2), about some aspects of HA and the use of AASI. During the follow-up after the fitting, questionnaires were applied to parents of 38 less than 10-year-old children with bilateral neurosensorial hearing loss, mild to profound degree, who attended CEDALVI-HRAC-USP. Results showed a better knowledge in Group 1 and allowed us to confirm that parents participation during AASI fitting is very important and is related to knowledge they have about HA.
