ABSTRACT

Objective: To establish an optimal extraction process of the total glycoalkaloids in Solanum tuberosum L. and then study the anti-inflammatory activity. Methods:The extraction process of the total glycoalkaloids was optimized by orthogonal design. Compared with that of the total glycoalkaloids in Rhizoma Dioscoreae Melanophymatis and fresh potato pieces, the anti-inflammatory ac-tivity of the total glycoalkaloids in Solanum tuberosum L. was evaluated by mouse ear swelling model induced by xylene, rat paw swell-ing model induced by carrageenan, granuloma model caused by cotton and blood capillary permeability experiments. Results:The opti-mal extraction conditions were as follows:the extraction temperature was 65℃, 10-fold amount of methanol was used for twice extrac-tion with 45 min per time. The total glycoalkaloids from the optimal extraction had obvious anti-inflammatory activity, and the effect was related to the content ofα-chaconine. Conclusion:The results show that the order of different factors affecting the extraction rate is ex-traction temperature> extraction time, and the total glycoalkaloids in Solanum tuberosum L. has good anti-inflammatory effects in mice and rats.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To assess the relationship between nodular goiter and hepatitis C virus infection.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Ninety-seven cases of early treatment in patients with chronic hepatitis C were collected for analysis.Data on patient age, sex, hepatitis duration and other general information were collected. In addition, data on clinical measures of thyroid function (including T3, t4, tSH) and thyroid autoantibodies (thyroid peroxidase antibody TPO-Ab, thyroglobulin antibody Tg-Ab), as well as findings from thyroid dimensional ultrasonography were collected. One hundred and eleven cases of early treatment in patients with chronic hepatitis B and 106 eases of females 40 years old or older with high risk of nodular goiter were collected for use as controls. The relationship between nodular goiter with thyroid function, thyroid autoantibodies levels, sex, age, and hepatitis C virus infection were statistically analyzed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The prevalence rates of nodular goiter in the chronic hepatitis C group, the chronic hepatitis B group and the more than or equal to 40 year-old women with high risk of nodular goiter were 53.6%,36.9% and 59.4% respectively. The prevalence rates of nodular goiter in the chronic hepatitis C group and the more than or equal to 40 year-old women with high risk of nodular goiter were significantly higber than that in the chronic hepatitis B group (x² values: 5.820 and 10.996, P < 0.05). The average age of patients with chronic hepatitis C combined with nodular goiter was significantly higher than their counterparts without goiter (F=6.408, P < 0.05),and the prevalence rate in the more than or equal to 40 year-old women with high risk of nodular goiter was significantly higher than that of their counterparts who were less than 40 years-old (60.0% vs. 23.5%; x² =7.499, P less than 0.05). The prevalence of nodular goiter in patients with chronic hepatitis C was significantly greater for females than for males (62.1% vs. 41.0%; x 2 =4.152, P < 0.05).The prevalence of nodular goiter in patients with chronic hepatitis C was also significantly higher for females more than or equal to 40 years old than for males (70.2%, 33/47 vs. 45.5%,15/33; x² = 4.952, P < 0.05).The duration of hepatitis, thyroid function and thyroid autoantibodies were similar between the patients in the chronic hepatitis C group with or without nodular goiter.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The patients with chronic hepatitis C had a higher prevalence of nodular goiter, with an average of up to 53.6%, than the patients with chronic hepatitis B,and the women the more than or equal to 40 years old had even higher prevalence, at 70.2%, suggesting that patients with chronic hepatitis C should be routinely examined by thyroid ultrasound. Thyroid function and thyroid autoantibodies were not correlated with prevalence of goiter among the chronic hepatitis C patients.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To screen the anti-tumor active parts from Tripterygium hypoglaucum by anti-tumor experimental model in vivo and in vitro.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>Ethanol extraction was separated and purified by column chromatography of ion polymeric adsorbent and macroporous adsorptive resins. MTT assay and the inhibition effect to S180 solid tumor were used to detect anti-tumor activity of each separation.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>There are anti-tumor activities in the ethanol extraction, total alkaloids, and macroporous resin absorption in vivo and vitro. Minimum IC50 of Total alkaloids was 29.90 mg L(-1), and S180 solid tumor inhibition ratio of different dose of 25, 50, 100 mg kg(-1) were 38.10%, 50.60%, 60.71% respectively. Minimum IC50 of macroporous resin absorption was 98.56 mg L(-1), and S180 solid tumor inhibition ratio of different dose of 100, 200, 400 mg kg(-1) were 42.96%, 53.57%, 63.79% respectively. Water solubility position had no effect in vivo and vitro.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>T. hypoglaucum has fine anti-tumor activity in vivo and in vitro, and total alkaloids are the main part of anti-tumor active part.</p>

ABSTRACT

[Objective] Antifungal action of fat-soluble extracts from Bulbus Allii Cepae (BAC) by different extraction technology on 16 strains of dermatophytes was observed to supply evidence for the optimization of extraction technology for BAC. [Methods] Four methods were used for the extraction of fat-soluble extract from BAC and the antifungal action of the extract was tested by medium dilution method. [Results] Fat-soluble extract freshly extracted from BAC by ether had a strong in-vitro antifungal action and its minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was not over 6.25 mL?L-1 against 10 strains of fungi including Shanghai Epidermophytom floccosum and its MIC against other strains ranged 12.5 -50.0 mL?L-1. The minimum fungicidal concentration of fat-soluble extract freshly extracted from BAC by ether was as the same as MIC. Fat-soluble extract freshly extracted by ether had no antifungal action after water removal by heating. [Conclusion] The extraction technology of freshly extracted by ether without heating is a better method for BAC and the fat-soluble extract extracted by this method has a better antifungal action.

ABSTRACT

[Objective] To make a microscopic identification of medicinal material of Herba Rabdosiae Serrae (HRS) from different plant resources. [Methods] The dry leaves of the whole, the middle part and the upper-middle part from the plants of Isodon serra (Maxim.) Kudo, Isodon striatus (Benth.) Kudo, Isodon lophanthoides var. geradianus (Benth.) Hara, and Isodon lophanthoides Hara var. graciliflorus (Benth.) Hara were sliced by different methods. Structure of leaf epidermis, the transverse section of leaf and structure of leaf powder were observed under light microscope. [Results] There existed differences in epidermal cells, stomata distribution, nonglandular hair, glandular hair, small glandular hair and glandular scale of leaf epidermis from four kinds of medicinal plants of Herba Rabdosiae Serrae . And there also existed differences in epidermal cells, anticlinal wall and external-section wall of epidermal cells, nonglandular hair, glandular hair, glandular scale, stomata distribution, mesophyll, main vessels, and vascular bundle of leaf transverse section, as well as in epidermal cells, stomata distribution, glandular scale, nonglandular hair, glandular hair and ducts of leaf powder from four kinds of medicinal plants of Herba Rabdosiae Serrae. [Conclusion] Medicinal plants of different kinds of Herba Rabdosiae Serrae have different microscopic identification structure in leaf epidermis, leaf transverse section and leaf powder.
