ABSTRACT

Background: Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is the most common cause of inherited mental retardation. The absence of Fragile X Mental Retardation (FMRP) in Fragile X syndrome changes other proteins. Objective: To detect changes of glycoprotein in human serum of Fragile X syndrome. Subject and methods: Affinity chromatography with lectin concanavalin A (ConA) used to receive glycoprotein. The collected glycoprotein was then separated using 2-D electrophoresis. The protein spots were further excised, trypsin digested, and analyzed by nano LC couple with ESI-MS/MS and identified by MASCOT v1.8 software. Results and conclusion: 5 glycoproteins showed the different expression levels in the serum of Fragile X syndrome. Haptoglobin, Ig-J were increased and ceruloplasmin, transferring, Ig kappa were decreased. Using affinity chromatography with lectin concanavalin A (ConA), glycoprotein was received and divided on 2 ways electrokinetic chromatography. The mixture protein was identified with a reliability of 99.5% by 2 ways liquid chromatography combined with continuous spectrum mass.

ABSTRACT

Background: Effect of salbutamol nebulization in the treatment of acute bronchiolitis in infants is contraverse. Objectives: This study aims to evaluate effect of salbutamol nebulization in infants with bronchiolitis. Subjects and method: Patients were divided into two groups. Treatment group was given salbutamol nebulization with dose of 0.15mg/kg/time, with 2ml sodium 0.9%, 2 times with 30 minute interval and control group. Indicators including Sa02, heart rate and respiratory rate were measured before and after nebuliser of salbutamol. These indicators were compared at times before nebulizing (T1) and after 15 minute (T2), 30 minute (T3), 60 minute (T4). Clinical trends and mean treatment days were compared between two groups. Results: There were 80 infants under 1 year old with bronchiolitis studied from July 2004 to July 2005. Of whom, there were 53 (66.3%) male and 27 (33.7) female. Mean age was 5.4 \xb1 2.69 months. There were 59 infants with mild and moderate forms and 21 infants with severe one. There were 47 infants treated by salbutamol nebulization and 33 infants in the control group. No significant difference of clinical trends and avarage treatment days were found between two groups. Conclusion: Salbutamol nebulization showed no effect on the treatment of acute bronchiolitis in infants.

ABSTRACT

The combinations of gel activated charcoal and sorbitol in rational proportion (product name: Antipois- Bachmai) were given for 91 patients with ingestion-induced poisoning as protocol of Bachmai Poison Control Center. 76 cases (83.5%) were admitted before 6 hours and 85 cases (93.4%) before 12 hours. 66 patients (72.5%) were given 1 dose, 93.4% were given less than 3 doses, and in 2 patients (2.2%), 6 doses have been used. Antipois-Bachmai was used conveniently. Deposit was not observed in gastric sonde, so this drug prevented from obstruction due to charcoal. Almost patients had charcoal loose stool within first 12 hours.
