ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo evaluate clinical outcomes of fixation for the treatment of radial head fracture with collapse of anterior articular surface.

METHODSFrom March 2006 to January 2013,17 patients with radial head fractures with collapse of anterior articular surface were analysed. According to the Mason classification, there were 12 cases with Mason type II fractures and 5 cases with Mason type III fractures. All the patients were treated with open reduction through posterolateral entrance of elbow joint and Herbert or titanium cannulated screw internal fixation.

RESULTSAll the patients were followed up, and the duration ranged from 6 to 18 months, with a mean of 11.3 months. According to the Broberg and Morrey score system, 2 patients got an excellent result, 12 good and 3 fair. There were no complications such as infection of elbow joint, nerve injury, non-union, traumatic osteoarthritis, heterotopic ossification and elbow instability. However, the postoperative activity range of elbow in the injuried side was less than that in the normal side.

CONCLUSIONRadial head fracture with collapse of anterior articular surface is easily misdiagnosed, and it can be treated with open reduction and internal fixation through posterolateral entrance.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the antagonistic effect of N-acetylcysteine(NAC)on the damage of hepatic mitochondria of rats induced by cadmium in vitro. Methods The mitochondria were prepared from the clean Wistar rats' whole liver by using differ ential centfifugation. The mitochondria were incubated in the assay buffer containing different concentration of CdCl_2 (10,100,1 000,10 000 ?mol/L)at 37 ℃ for 1 h.The effect of NAC(500 ?mol/L)was studied at a CdCl_2 concentration of 1 000 ?mol/L.The incubation buffer was collected and the level of GSH,cytochrome C and the activity of Mn-SOD were determined. Results Compared with the control group, the level of GSH and Mn-SOD in 100,1 000,10 000 ?mol/L CdCl_2 groups were significantly decreased, the content of cytochrome C in 1 000,10 000 ?mol/L CdCl_2 groups were significantly increased(P

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo identify and characterize the epitope associated with the virus attachment protein (VAP) of hantaan virus.

METHODSThe monoclonal antibody 3G1 was used as the ligand to biospan from a phage-displayed 12-amino acid peptide library, then the positive phage clones were chosen and sequenced. The amino acid sequences of them were compared with that of hantaan virus G2 in homology. The characteristics of positive phage were studied by IFA and ELISA. A decapeptide combining to cell membrane was observed under laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM).

RESULTSThe conservative motif PX(1-2) HX(0-2) H displaying on positive clones shared homologous amino acid sequence with G2 96YPWHTAKCHY105.

CONCLUSIONG2 96YPWHTAKCHY105 might play some roles in virus binding to host cell, and might be a possible key epitope of hantaan virus VAP.

ABSTRACT

Human Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen(PSMA) cDNA was amplified using total RNA extracted from prostate carcinoma tissue by RT-PCR. The cDNA fragment of extracellular domain of PSMA(edPSMA) gene was amplified by PCR and cloned into expression vector pMAL-c2x. Sequence analysis of both PSMA and edPSMA revealed identity to the GenBank reported. The edPSMA was expressed in E. coli as part of a fusion protein with MBP as the induction of IPTG. Western blot analysis showed the recombinant protein could react with PSMA monocloned antibodies 4G5. MBP-edPSMA fusion protein were purified by amylose resin affinity chromatography and showed to be homogeneity in SDS-PAGE(120 kD). BALB/C mice were immunized with the purified protein for the preparation of polyclonal antibody. The polyclonal antibody, which had a title of 1:12,800, were indicated the specificity to prostate tissue.

ABSTRACT

AIMTo build a easy and reliable rat model of insulin resistance.

METHODSChanges concerning sugar metabolism were observed in experimental rats injected intraperitoneally by different doses of dexamethasone.

RESULTSThe changes by dexamethasone in fasting blood insulin and insulin resistance prior to that of fasting blood glucose were dose and time dependent.

CONCLUSIONIt was convenience to set up a insulin resistance model induced by dexamethasone in rats which would favor other related research.
