ABSTRACT
56 species belonging to 20 genera of Order Chroococcales, Oscillatoriales and Nostocales as under are being recorded for the first time from Keenjhar Lake, Sindh, Pakistan.Chroococcales: Aphanothece, Chroococcus, Coelosphaerium, Gloeothece, Gloeocapsa, Gomphos-phaeria, Microcystis, Merismopedia. Oscillatoriales: Arthrospira, Lyngbya, Oscillatoria, Phormidium and Spirulina. Nostocales: Anabaena, Anabaenopsis, Calothrix, Nostoc, Rivularia
ABSTRACT
Qualitative phytoplanktonic samples were collected twice from November 2001 to January 2002 at the Kotri Barrage. A total of 26 phytoplanktonic species were identified. They included 12 species belonging to Chlorophyceae, 9 species to Cyanophyceae, 3 species to Bacillariophyceae, and 2 species to Dinophyceae. Among the Chlorophyceae, Pediast rum, Spirogyra and Scenedesmus genera were found dominant while among Cyanophyceae, Aphanocapsa, Gloeocapsa and Microcystis were dominant in River Indus
