ABSTRACT

Objective To study the preparation of nifedipine liposomes (NP) and evaluate their quality. Methods The liposomes were prepared by a pH steps degree-freeze thawing method, with the entrapment and stability as indices. The entrapment was studied by Sephadex G-50 minicolumn centrifugation UV-Vis spectroscopy method. Entrapment, and degree distribution before and after freezing were compared, the effect of freezing times on entrapment was studied. Results The entrapment and the average size of NP liposomes were 96.65% and 2.0 ?m, respectively. After freezing, both the entrapment and stability were increased. Conclusion The selected formulation and preparation of nifedipine liposomes are practicable.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To explore the isolation, distributive characteristics and drug resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii producing AmpC enzyme in nosocomial infection.METHODS The distributive sections and infected parts of 42 A.baumannii strains in nosocomial infection were analyzed, and three dimensional test was used to(detect) AmpC enzyme.RESULTS Among them 18(42.86%) strains were AmpC positive.Among 40 strains of A.baumannii in non-nosocomial infection,6(15.00%) strains were AmpC positive.A.baumannii in nosocomial(infection) in clinical sections was mainly discovered in burn department, and the respiratory tract and skin soft tissue were the main infected sites(90%).The drug resistance in nosocomial infection was obviously higher than that of A.baumannii in non-nosocomial one.CONCLUSIONS The isolated rate and drug resistance rate of A.baumannii producing AmpC enzyme are rather high in nosocomial infection. It′s(neccessary) to take measures to prevent the nosocomial infection caused by A.baumannii.

ABSTRACT

The effects of an aqueous extract of Dracocephalum tanguticum Maxim. (DtM ) on p, b.b-1/ H. Hct. ESR. ESR-kand EPT of rats were studied by ip route. The animals were divided into three groups: normal pressure control group (NCG ). iowpressure treatment group (LTG )and lowpressure control group (LCG ). A11 p,b. Het. ESR-k increased stignificantly in rats exposed to stimulated altitude of 6500m for 10 days (8h/day),and the platelet and the ratio of left to ri1ght ventricle weights were obviously decreased in comparison with NPG. The above parameters of LTG .except Het.have noobvious difference as compared with NCG, Het in LTG increased obviously but lower than LCG. These results suggested that DtM may be used as an inhibitory agent against the changes of induced-hypoxia blood rheology, decreased platelet and hypertrophic right ventricle. In addition, the observation of tissue morphology showed that DtM possesses sometherapeutic effects to injuries of lung. liver and kidney of hypoxia rats.

ABSTRACT

From 1989 to Apr. 1997, 21 patients were admitted for gastrointestinal bleeding caused by binary angiodeformity. Diagnosis was made in 16 out of 18 undergoing selective celiac angiography with the occuracy rate of 88. 9%. Endoscopy found the deformity in 6 out of 14 (42. 8%). Bleeding stopped in 9 of 11 treated conservatively. Surgery was successful in all 9 cases, and endoscopic cautery successfully stopped the bleeding in the remaining one. The authors came to the conclusion that selective celiac angiography was most useful for the diagnosis. Drug therapy and endoscopic cautery effect only temporary hematostasis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effects of several enhancers on transdermal permeation of berberine hydrochloride. Methods The penetration rate of berberine hydrochloride through rat skin in 30% ethanol-water was measured using the penetration experiment apparatus. Samples were withdrawn from the receptor solution at certain time intervals and assayed by HPLC method. Results The penetration rate of berberine hydrochloride by the enhancers was increased in the following order: azone

ABSTRACT

Acute hepatic failure was induced in rats with intraperitoneal administration of D-galactosamine.Serum and tissue amino acid profiles of the animals were studied. Except for arginine, serum levels of all amino acids were elevated. This is in variance with the findings of Fischer and other investigators. In their studies, the decreased levels of BCAA could be related to the administration of dextrose. In our study, the serum BCAA/AAA ratio was decreased and it was correlated negatively with the dosage of D-galactosamine (r =-0.789). Amino acid profiles in the liver, kidney and muscles were significantly altered. The chracteristics of the changes indicated that enhanced proteolysis of tissue proteins was the major factor accounting for the elevation of serum amino acid levels. Hepatic coma might be related to the increase of aromatic amino acids in the brain. It is usually difficult for glycine, cystine, asparagine and threonine to penetrate the blood-brain-barrier. Elevation of their levels in the brain might be a consequence of increased permeability of the blood-brain-barrier. Further studies are needed to clarify the role of GABA in hepatic coma.
