Synthesis of some new imidazolinones of expected antimicrobial activity

The action of hydrazine on 5-cinnamylidene-2-ethylthio-3-phenylhydantoin [Ic] gave 1-amino-2-anilino-4-cinnamylidine- delta[2] imidazolin-5-one [II]. The latter was deaminated with nitrous acid to yield 2-amino-4-cinnamylidene- delta[2]-imidazolin-5-one [IVa] which was also obtained from Ic by the action of ammonium acetate or Ia by the action of aniline. Compound II was condensed with aromatic aldehydes to give the corresponding Schiff's bases VIa-f. A number of 2-substituted aminoimidazolinones IVb-j and VIIIa-d were also prepared. Some of the obtained compounds showed antimicrobial activity

Copper and iron in scalp hair and blood sera of patients with lichen planus

Scalp hair and blood sera of 15 young adult females, were examined regarding their mineral contents of copper and iron. The results were compared with a normal control group. The findings obtained revealed, changes in their mineral contents, moreover these findings were discussed

Evaluation of tinidazole [Fasigyn] A new trichomonocidal drug in males

Thirty male patients suffering from symptomatic trichomoniasis and urethra and/or prostate, of different age groups were clinically and laboratory examined. Twenty five cases were completely cured using one single oral dose of Tinidazol tablets [2 gm]. Additional three cases were cured by using two doses of the same drug [each dose was2 gm] with one week interval. Two cases failed to respond after two successive doses of the drug.
