ABSTRACT

Objective: To compare the neonatal outcomes in pregnant women with repaired vs unrepaired congenital heart disease (CHD). Methods: Data on pregnant women with CHD was retrieved from our hospital records for the duration April, 2014 to December, 2021. Pregnant women with CHD were divided into two groups: simple CHD and moderate-tocomplex CHD. Results: In simple CHD group, neonatal outcomes were similar in pregnant women with repaired and unrepaired CHD. By contrast, in moderate-to-complex CHD group, the offspring of women with unrepaired CHD had lower gestational age [mean (SD) 34.3 (2.7) vs 36.8 (2.1) week; P=0.016] and lower birth weight [mean (SD) 2126.8 (711.9) vs 2720 (645.7); P=0.037] than those with repaired CHD. Infants of women with unrepaired moderate-to-complex CHD had a higher risk of premature delivery (87.5% vs 45.5%, P=0.013), low birth weight (81.3% vs 36.4%, P=0.04) and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission (68.8% vs 27.3%, P=0.034). Conclusions: Surgical repair before pregnancy in women with moderate-to-complex CHD significantly minimized the risks of neonatal complications.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the value of a three-dimensional inversion-recovery with real reconstruction (3D-real IR) sequence with an ultralong repetition time (TR) for the endolymphatic hydrops (EH) of Meniere disease (MD) after intravenous gadolinium administration, and compare it with a heavily T 2-weighted three-dimensional fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (hT 2-3D-FLAIR) sequence. Methods:From July 2021 to July 2022, 52 definite MD patients (58 ears) were retrospectively enrolled at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. The 3D-real IR with an ultralong TR (16 000 ms) and hT 2-3D-FLAIR sequences were performed four hours after intravenous single-dose gadolinium administration. The image quality of the two sequences was rated. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were measured in the two sequence. The EH of cochlear and vestibular was graded, and EH detection rates were calculated. Scores of the two sequences were compared using the paired Wilcoxon signed rank test. Paired t test was used to compare the differences of the SNR and CNR. McNemar test was performed to compare the EH detection rate between the two sequences. Results:The score of the 3D-real IR [3 (3, 4)] was significantly higher than that of the hT 2-3D-FLAIR [2.5 (2, 3), Z=-6.06, P<0.001]. No significant difference was found in SNR of 3D-real IR and hT 2-3D-FLAIR (11.4±6.5 and 12.3±3.7, t=-1.38, P=0.175). CNR of the 3D-real IR (21.7±9.3) was significantly higher than that of the hT 2-3D-FLAIR (9.7±3.8, t=10.67, P<0.001). Using 3D-real IR sequence, the EH detection rate of cochlear (89.7%, 52/58) was higher than using hT 2-3D-FLAIR (67.2%, 39/58, χ 2=11.10, P<0.001). No significant difference was found in the EH detection rate of vestibular between 3D-real IR (77.6%, 45/58) and hT 2-3D-FLAIR (74.1%, 43/58, χ 2=0.50, P=0.500). Conclusion:Compared with hT 2-3D-FLAIR sequence, the 3D-real IR with an ultralong TR can improve the depiction of EH in MD patients after intravenous single-dose gadolinium administration. It can provide higher image quality and detection rate of EH.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate the clinical features, laboratory and imaging results, treatment and outcomes of eosinophilic fasciitis (EF) and assess the value of ultrasound in the diagnosis of EF.@*METHODS@#We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 45 patients with EF treated in our center from January 1, 2006 to February 28, 2022. The consistency between the diagnoses of EF based on ultrasound and MRI findings was assessed.@*RESULTS@#In the 45 EF patients (male/female ratio 3.5:1), the age of onset ranged from 16 to 64 years with a mean disease course of 22.6 months. The average time from symptom onset to diagnosis was 16 months. The most common possible trigger of the disease was vigorous exercise (10/45), causing symmetrical lesions in the limbs, most commonly in the forearms (86.7%) and lower legs (80%). Clinical features of EF included subcutaneous swelling and induration (95.6%), arthralgia and arthritis (55.6%), groove sign (42.2%), hand joint contractures (42.2%), skin pigmentation (37.8%), and peau d'orange appearance (13.3%). Eosinophilia was found in 31 patients (68.9%). Hypergammaglobulinemia was seen in 23/44 (52.3%) and positive antinuclear antibodies in 9 (20%) of the patients. Twentyone of the patients were treated with high-dose methylprednisolone (≥200 mg daily for 3 to 5 consecutive days), and compared with the patients who did not receive this treatment, these patients more frequently experienced relapse before admission, had more extensive involvement, and had a higher rate of hypergammaglobulinemia without fever, but these differences were not statistically significant. Of the 31 patients (68.9%) with follow-up data (for a median of 3.2 years [range 0.2-15.9]), complete remission was achieved in 12 (38.7%) patients, and the accumulative complete remission rate was 44.1% at 5.5 years. No specific baseline characteristics or immunosuppressants were found to correlate with the treatment response. A total of 26 patients underwent both ultrasound and MRI examination, and the Kappa value of the diagnostic results between ultrasound and MRI was 0.91.@*CONCLUSION@#EF is characterized by symmetrical subcutaneous swelling and induration in the limbs, accompanied by eosinophilia and hypergammaglobulinemia. Glucocorticoid is effective for treating EF. Ultrasound examination can identify thickening of subcutaneous fascia for an early diagnosis of EF.

ABSTRACT

Protein aggregation is a critical issue in the production of biopharmaceuticals. During protein production, transport and storage, various factors can lead to protein aggregation. With the in-depth study, different ways of protein aggregation and various influencing factors were identified. This includes physical and chemical factors, translation modifications and protein structure. Since protein aggregation exerts major impact on the activity and homogeneity of proteins, it is of great importance to study the ways of protein aggregation and how to control it to obtain high-quality proteins. The review focuses on three ways of protein aggregation, namely 3D domain swapping, salt bridge formation, and oxidative stress, as well as methods to control protein aggregation during protein production, transport and storage. This may facilitate reducing the loss caused by the formation of protein aggregation and improving the purity and homogeneity of protein in research and commercial production.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of wearing base curve aspheric orthokeratology(OK)lens in the control of myopia.METHODS: A prospective study was conducted. A total of 94 cases(94 eyes)of myopia aged 8~13 years old who were fitted with orthokeratology(OK)lens in our hospital from January 2020 to July 2021 were selected(for patients who received OK lens in one eye, the eye is selected as the observation eye, and for patients who receive OK lens in both eyes, the right eye is used as the observation eye). Patients were divided into two groups according to the design of the OK lens, with 46 cases wearing base curve aspheric OK lens in study group and 48 cases wearing base curve spheric OK lens in control group. The study group and the control group were further divided into low myopia group(-3.00D< SE ≤-0.75D)and moderate myopia group(-6.00D< SE ≤-3.00D)according to the baseline spherical equivalent(SE), with 52 cases(52 eyes)in the low myopia group and 42 cases(42 eyes)in the moderate myopia group. Uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA)was evaluated at 1d, 1wk, 1, 3, 6 and 9mo after wearing lenses, and axial length were measured at 6mo and 1a after wearing lenses respectively.RESULTS: All patients completed follow-up, and there was no significant differences in UCVA(LogMAR)between the study group(-0.12±0.08)and the control group(-0.17±0.07)after wearing the OK lens for 1mo(P>0.05); the mean axial length elongation between the two groups had no significant differences after wearing lenses for 6mo and 1a(all P>0.05). In the low myopia group, the axial length elongation of the study group was 0.19±0.17mm after wearing OK lens for 1a, which was significantly lower than that of the control group(0.31±0.18mm; P<0.05); while in the moderate myopia group, the axial length elongation was 0.22±0.18mm, and it had no significant differences with that in the control group(0.19±0.12mm; P>0.05). There was no significant differences in axial length elongation between the low myopia group and the moderate myopia group in study group after wearing lenses for 6mo and 1a(P>0.05), while there was differences in axial length elongation between low myopia group and moderate myopia group in the control group after wearing lenses for 6mo(0.15±0.13 vs. 0.05±0.12mm)and 1a(0.31±0.18 vs. 0.19±0.12mm; all P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Wearing base curve aspheric OK lens can effectively improve the UCVA and control the elongation of axial length. For patients with low myopia, base curve aspheric OK lens had a better efficacy in controlling the elongation of axial length than the spheric OK lens.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effect and mechanism of pearl hydrolysate on hepatic sinusoidal capillarization in liver fibrosis. Methods Hepatic sinusoidal endothelial cells (HSEC) and hepatic stellate cells (HSC-LX2) were incubated with Hepu pearl hydrolysate. The proliferation of HSEC and HSC-LX2 was examined by MTT colorimetry. The cell cycle and apoptosis of HSC-LX2 were measured by flow cytometry. The changes of the microstructures such as fenestra and basement membrane of HSEC were observed by transmission electron microscopy. Results The intervention with leptin increased the viability of HSC-LX2 (P=0.041),decreased the viability of HSEC (P=0.004),and caused capillarization signs such as decreased number and diameter of fenestrae and formation of continuous basement membrane. The treatment with pearl hydrolysate at different doses increased and expanded the fenestrae of HSEC (low dose:P=0.020;medium dose:P=0.028;high dose:P=0.032),disintegrated the extracellular basement membrane of HSEC (low dose:P=0.020;medium dose:P=0.028;high dose:P=0.032),decreased the viability of HSC-LX2 (low dose:P=0.018;medium dose:P=0.013;high dose:P=0.009),and induced the apoptosis of HSC-LX2 (low dose:P=0.012;medium dose:P=0.006;high dose:P=0.005).Pearl hydrolysate exerted therapeutic effect on capillarization in a dose-dependent manner (low dose:P=0.020;medium dose:P=0.028;high dose:P=0.032).Moreover,high-dose pearl hydrolysate showed stronger effect on capillarization of hepatic sinuses than colchicine (P=0.034) and salvianolic acid B (P=0.038). Conclusion Hepu pearl hydrolysate can increase the viability of HSEC,restore the area of fenestrae, disintegrate the basement membrane, and decrease the viability and induce the apoptosis of HSC-LX2,demonstrating significant pharmacological effects on the capillarization of HSEC and HSC-LX2.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore the correlation between club drug use and anal canal human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in HIV-negative and HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) in Taizhou. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in Taizhou. HIV-negative MSM were recruited by convenient sampling in voluntary counseling and testing clinics of Taizhou prefectural CDC from August 2016 to October 2017, and HIV-positive MSM were recruited through the routine follow-up and management by Taizhou prefectural CDC from August 2016 to June 2019. A face-to-face questionnaire interview was conducted to collect the information about the socio-demographic characteristics, sexual orientation, sexual behavior, club drug use and other information of the participants. Anal canal swabs were collected for HPV genotyping. The correlation between club drug use and the prevalence of HPV infection were evaluated with χ2 test and logistic regression analysis. Results: A total of 69 HIV-negative and 345 HIV-infected MSM were included. The prevalence of any type of anal canal HPV infection in HIV-negative MSM (27.5%, 19/69) was lower than that in HIV-positive MSM (66.4%, 229/345) (χ2=36.114,P<0.001). The prevalence of self-reported club drug use in HIV-negative MSM was higher (17.4%, 12/69) than that in HIV-positive MSM (7.0%, 24/345) (χ2=7.886, P=0.005). For HIV-negative MSM, the prevalence of club drug use was higher in MSM who had homosexual group sex (P=0.036); the prevalence of HPV infection was 50.0% (6/12) in club drug users and 22.8% (13/57) in non-club drug users (χ2=3.674, P=0.055). For HIV-positive MSM, the prevalence of HPV infection was 70.8% (17/24) in club drug users and 66.0% (212/321) in non-club drug users (χ2=0.230, P=0.632). Multivariable logistic regression model showed that HPV infection in MSM was positively correlated with HIV infection (OR=5.42, 95%CI: 2.92-10.06), and the association between HPV infection and club drug use (OR=1.66, 95%CI: 0.75-3.71) was not significant. Conclusions: HIV infection was positively correlated with anal canal HPV infection in MSM in Taizhou. Club drug use was positively correlated with high-risk sexual behaviors, while its association with HPV infection needs further study.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the clinical value of 5.0 T ultra-high filed MRI system in assessing intracranial arteries segments and vessel branchers. Methods:This study was a prospective study. Totally 40 consecutive healthy volunteers were recruited from Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University from September 1, 2021 to November 30, and all participants who underwent either 3.0 T or 5.0 T time-of-flight MR angiography (TOF-MRA) in random order were divided into 3.0 T MR group and 5.0 T MR group with 20 volunteers for each group. Image quality was assessed by Likert 5 scoring systems and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR),and score in visualization of intracranial arteries [middle cerebral artery (MCA) and its segments, anterior cerebral artery (ACA) and its segments, posterior cerebral artery (PCA) and its segments, lenticulostriate arteries (LA) and pontine artery (PA)] were assessed from 0 to 3 (≥2: good depiction of vessel segment). Quantitative indicators were compared between 2 groups using independent t test or Mann-Whitney U test. Results:Among the 40 subjects, there were 29 males and 11 females, aged 20-69 (50±12) years. SNR and CNR were both significantly higher in 5.0 T MR group than those in 3.0 T MR group (SNR: 187±9 vs 91±4, t=31.59, P<0.001; CNR: 156±7 vs 70±4, t=31.45, P<0.001), but there was no significant difference in subjective scores of image quality between the 5.0 T MR and 3.0 T MR groups [5.0 (4.0, 5.0), 5.0 (5.0, 5.0) points, respectively, Z=-1.23, P=0.218]. In the evaluation of cerebral arteries, the visualizations of the proximal and middle segments of MCA, ACA and PCA was better than those in the 3.0 T MR group, and there was no significant difference in the scores ( P>0.05), while the visualizations of proximal arteries in the 5.0 T MR group were significantly better than those in the 3.0 T MR group ( P<0.05). Furthermore, small vessel branches such as LA and PA in 5.0 T MR group were visualized better than those in 3.0 T MR group ( P<0.001). Conclusion:TOF-MRA by ultra-high filed 5.0-T provides an optimal choice in visualization of distal large arteries and small vessel branches, which could be useful for the diagnosis on cerebral vascular disease.

ABSTRACT

AbstractObjective: To identify the expression and methylation patterns of lncRNA CASC15 in bone marrow (BM) samples of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients, and further explore its clinical significance.@*METHODS@#Eighty-two de novo AML patients and 18 healthy donors were included in the study. Meanwhile, seven public datasets from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were included to confirm the expression and methylation data of CASC15. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was applied to determine the discriminative capacity of CASC15 expression to identify AML. The patients were divided into CASC15high group and CASC15low group by X-tile method, and the prognostic value of CASC15 was identified by Kaplan-Meier method and univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis.@*RESULTS@#The expression level of CASC15 was significantly decreased in BM cells of AML patients compared with healthy donors (P<0.001). ROC curve analysis suggested that CASC15 expression might be a potential biomarker to discriminate AML from controls. The expression of CASC15 was high at the early stage of hematopoiesis, and reached a peak at the stage of multipotent progenitors differentiation, then decreased rapidly, and was at a range of low level fluctuations in the subsequent process. Among FAB subtypes, CASC15 expression in M0 was significantly higher than that in M1-M7. Clinically, CASC15low patients were more likely to have NPM1 mutations than CASC15high patients (P=0.048), while CASC15high patients had a significantly higher frequency of IDH1 and RUNX1 mutations (P=0.021 and 0.014, respectively). Moreover, CASC15low group had a shorter overall survival (OS) in patients with NPM1 mutations. Furthermore, multivariate analysis confirmed that CASC15 expression was a significant independent risk factor for OS in NPM1 mutated AML patients. In addition, CASC15 methylation level in BM samples of AML patients was significantly decreased compared with healthy donors. Patients with CASC15 high methylation had poor OS and disease-free survival.@*CONCLUSION@#The expression of CASC15 is decreased in AML, and low CASC15 expression may predict adverse prognosis in AML patients with NPM1 mutations. Moreover, CASC15 methylation level in AML is significantly decreased, and high CASC15 methylation may predict poor prognosis in AML.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To establish the droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) assay for the detection of NPM1 type A mutation in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and to evaluate its specificity, sensitivity and its value in clinical application.@*METHODS@#NPM1 mutant and wildtype plasmids were used to verify the performance of ddPCR. Both ddPCR and Sanger sequencing were used to detect the bone marrow samples of 87 AML patients, which were confirmed by next generation sequencing (NGS). Moreover, NPM1 mutation burden was dynamically monitored in five patients by ddPCR.@*RESULTS@#The limit of blank (LOB) of ddPCR established for NPM1 mutation detection was 1.1 copies/μl, and the limit of detection (LOD) was 2.43 copies/μl, which had good linearity. Among the 87 newly diagnosed AML patients, ddPCR identified seventeen cases positive for NPM1 mutation (19.5%), which was consistent with Sanger sequencing. NGS confirmed 12 positive cases, including 8 of type A mutations, 2 of type D mutations, and 2 of rare type mutations. The results of dynamic monitoring of NPM1 mutation burden in 5 patients showed that the NPM1 mutation burden decreased obviously even close to 0, when patients achieve complete remission after chemotherapy. However, the mutation burden was increased again at the time of relapse.@*CONCLUSION@#In this study, we established a ddPCR method for detection of NPM1 mutation with good sensitivity and repeatability, which can be used for screening NPM1 mutation in newly diagnosed AML patients and for minimal residual disease monitoring after remission in positive AML patients to guide treatment.

ABSTRACT

Objective To understand the prevalence of obesity among primary and middle school students in Taizhou, and provide scientific evidence for prevention and control. Methods A primary school, a middle school and a high school were randomly selected from each of 9 counties(cities or districts)in Taizhou using stratified sampling. We collected data on height, weight and age to calculate body mass index(BMI)and evaluated it according to the Appendix A of Technical Specification for Student Health Examination(GB/T 26343-2010)"Screening Standards for Overweight and Obesity in Children and Adolescents". Descriptive statistics of obesity was conducted. Results The prevalence of obesity among primary, middle, and high school students in Taizhou was 8.08%. It was higher among boys(10.80%)than girls(5.08%)(P < 0.05). The trend of obesity significantly decreased among students in different schools was as follows:primary school > middle school > high schoolt(χboy2 = 259.309, P < 0.001; χgirl2 = 244.679, P < 0.001), regardless of sex. Conclusion Obesity among primary, middle, and high school students in Taizhou remains high, with an increasing trend in recent years. The targeted population for prevention and control is 7-12-year-old primary school students, especially boys.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of a family and workplace clustering of COVID-19, identify the source of infection and the transmission chain, and provide evidence for prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic. Method:Field epidemiological method was used to conduct the investigation of confirmed cases and close contacts in this cluster. Data were analyzed with descriptive method. Real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (RT-PCR) was used to detect the novel coronavirus nucleic acid in the collected respiratory tract samples. Results:A total of 18 epidemiological related cases were collected including 16 confirmed cases and 2 cases of asymptomatic infections. The involved places included 1 beauty clinic workplace and 3 families. Seven cases were males and 11 cases were females, with the minimum, maximum and median age of 3, 65 and 32 years old, respectively. Among them, the employees attack rate was 9.80% (10/102), the family attack rate was 7.70% (5/78), and the customer attack rate was 0.58% (1/173). Positive nucleic acid test result in the respiratory tract sample of asymptomatic infection lasted for more than 2 months. Conclusions:The cause of this clustered COVID-19 epidemic is that the workplace environment is relatively closed with clustering crowds, and the source of imported infection is not discovered in time, which lead to a point-source outbreak and spread through family close contacts and clustering.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#LncRNA ITGB2-AS1 has been found to play important roles in the occurrence and development of human solid tumors. However, its role in hematological diseases, especially acute myeloid leukemia (AML), remains unclear. The aim of this study was to identify the expression pattern of ITGB2-AS1 in AML patients and to further explore its clinical significance.@*METHODS@#ITGB2-AS1 expression was analyzed in public datasets (including TCGA and GSE63270) and further validated in a cohort of 109 AML patients by real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR).@*RESULTS@#The level of ITGB2-AS1 was up-regulated among two independent cohorts (TCGA, P<0.05; GSE63270, P<0.05), which was confirmed by the data from 109 AML patients enrolled in this study (P<0.05). Clinically, high ITGB2-AS1 expression was associated with older age (P=0.023) and lower complete remission (CR) rate (P=0.005). Multivariate analysis identified that high ITGB2-AS1 expression was an independent prognostic factor not only for CR rate (P=0.027) but also for overall survival (OS) time (P=0.011), and ITGB2-AS1 was positively correlated with ITGB2 expression in both TCGA (r=0.74, P<0.001) and clinical data detected in this study (r=0.881, P<0.001). High ITGB2 expression was also associated with older age (P=0.02) and lower CR rate (P=0.020). Moreover, high ITGB2 expression predicted worse OS (P=0.028).@*CONCLUSION@#ITGB2-AS1 is overexpressed in AML and predicts poor prognosis in AML patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To select and evaluate new Chinese herbal prescription for the treatment of decreased ovarian reserve (DOR) and its appropriate dosage. Method:The literature concerning the treatment of DOR with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) was retrieved from such databases as Chinese Journal Full-text Database, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, and Chongqing Weipu Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals (VIP), based on which a database was established using the Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Support System (TCMISS) V2.5. The data mining was then carried out to obtain the core combinations of Chinese herbs and new Chinese herbal prescription combinations, followed by the determination of the new Chinese herbal prescription by expert group discussion for experiment evaluation. The female SD rats were divided into the normal group, DOR model group, Kuntai capsule group, and low-, medium-, and high-dose new Chinese herbal prescription groups, with 12 rats in each group. Rats in the Kuntai capsule group and low-, medium-, and high-dose new Chinese herbal prescription groups were treated with Kuntai capsule solution (0.5 g·kg-1 determined according to the dosage in the instruction) and 3.037 5, 6.075, and 9.12 g·kg-1 new Chinese herbal prescription, respectively. After 21 days, the estrous cycle was observed by vaginal exfoliated cell smear, and the ovarian structure was observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. The serum anti-mullerian hormone (AMH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and estrogen (E2) contents as well as the reactive oxygen species (ROS), malondialdehyde (MDA), and glutathione (GSH) levels and superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities in ovary were detected using biochemical methods. Result:The new Chinese herbal prescription subjected to experimental evaluation was composed of 11 Chinese herbs, namely Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata 20 g, Cervi Cornus Colla 12 g, Lycii Fructus 20 g, Corni Fructus 12 g, Albiziae Cortex 9 g, Nelumbinis Plumula 3 g, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma 20 g, Astragali Radix 30 g, Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma 12 g, Dioscoreae Rhizoma 30 g, and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata Cum Melle 6 g. Compared with the model group, the Kuntai capsule group and medium- and high-dose new Chinese herbal prescription groups exhibited significantly improved estrous cycle and follicular development, elevated serum AMH and E2 and ovarian GSH (P<0.05), decreased serum FSH and LH (P<0.05) and ovarian ROS and MDA (P<0.05), and enhanced SOD, CAT, and GSH-Px activities (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the above-mentioned indexes between the Kuntai capsule group and the middle- and high-dose new Chinese herbal prescription groups, but the estrous cycle and follicular development were better in the latter two groups. Conclusion:The new Chinese herbal prescription screened by data mining is able to enhance ovarian antioxidation, promote follicular development, ameliorate serum hormone and estrous cycle, and effectively improve ovarian reserve function in DOR rats. The medium dose (6.075 g·kg-1) has been proved optimal.

ABSTRACT

Objective To identify species of common sarcosaprophagous flies based on digital image analysis of veins, in order to provide new idea for fast and accurate species identification of sarcosaprophagous flies in forensic entomology. Methods Random trapping of 226 male and female sarcosaprophagous flies that comprised of 7 common species, including Sarcophaga peregrina, Parasarcophaga ruficornis, Sarcophaga dux, Seniorwhitea reciproca, Bercaea cruentata, Aldrichina grahami, and Synthesiomysia nudiseta with carrion in the field was conducted. The 17 landmarks on the right wing of each fly were digitally processed and the images were analyzed. The effects of allometry were evaluated using a permutation test. Wing shape variations among 7 sarcosaprophagous fly species and female species was analyzed using canonical variate analysis (CVA). Additionally, cross-validation test was used to evaluate the reliability of classification. Results Among 7 sarcosaprophagous fly species and female species, the effect of allometry had statistical significance (P<0.05). The CVA results showed that among 7 sarcosaprophagous fly species and female species, differences in the wing shape were significant, and the first two canonical variates accounted for 82.9% and 84.1% of the total variation of vein shape. Vein digital image analysis can be used to separate the 7 common sarcosaprophagous flies, with an overall species identification accuracy of 81.2%-100.0%, and with a species identification accuracy of 75.0%-100.0% to distinguish the female flies of the 7 sarcosaprophagous flies species. Conclusion Vein digital image analysis is a relatively convenient and reliable method for identification of insect species, which can be used for species identification of common sarcosaprophagous flies.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To systematically assess the efficacy of anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion (ACCF) versus posterior laminoplasty (LAMP) for cervical ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL).@*METHODS@#PubMed and EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CBM, CNKI, Wanfang and VIP were collected from 7 databases of ACCF, LAMP from 1970 to May 2018. According to the criteria, the articles were included and independently screened by two authors. The quality of the articles was assessed by using the MINORS scale (methodological index for non randomized studies). After extracting the data from the article, the JOA score, cervical curvature, operation time, bleeding volume, excellent and good rate, recovery rate, adverse events and secondary surgery were analyzed by using Review Manager 5.3 software.@*RESULTS@#Finally, a total of 22 articles with 1 678 patients were included in this Meta-analysis, with 810 patients in ACCF group and 868 patients in LAMP group. Meta analysis results showed that the ACCF group had higher postoperative JOA scores[MD=0.63, 95%CI(0.05, 1.20), = 0.03], higher excellent rate [=1.85, 95%CI (1.14, 3.02), =0.01] and higher recovery rate [=11.90, 95%CI (5.75, 18.05), =0.000 1]. But the LAMP group has a shorter operative time [MD=52.19, 95%CI (29.36, 75.03), <0.000 01], less complications [=1.56, 95%CI (1.03, 2.35), =0.04] and less reoperations [=3.73, 95%CI (1.62, 8.57), =0.002]. There was no significant different in postoperative lordosis [MD=3.15, 95%CI(-0.14, 6.43), =0.06] and blood loss[SMD= 0.26, 95%CI(-0.05, 0.57), =0.10] between two groups.@*CONCLUSION@#The recovery of functionof ACCF group was better, but operation time, complications and reoperations of LAMP group were all better than ACCF group. There was no difference in postoperative lordosis and intraoperative blood loss between two groups. However, there are some limitations in this study. Therefore, higher quality and larger sample size clinical studies are needed to further verify.
