[Ewing's sarcoma in old patients-a case report]

Ewing's sarcoma is a primitive bone tumor rarely observed in old patients. The main sign is osseous pain. The authors report a case of localized Ewing's sarcoma at left femur in a 42-years-old patient, revealed by an hydarthrosis of the knee, that was the only sign of appeal. The MTX has a place of choice in the treatment of the AJI with good observance and the absence of grave side effects. In a retrospective study, 14 cases of AJI having benefited from a treatment by MTX were included in the study. Answer to the treatment was estimated at the 6th month on the criteria of RINTO. The group included in the therapeutic evaluation, is formed by 10 boys and by 4 girls. The average age of the beginning of the disease is of 6 years [2 - 11]. The shape of the beginning is systematic in 7 cases and polyarticular in 5 cases and oligoarticular in 2 cases. The average duration of the treatment by MTX is of 36 months [9 - 66]. Answer to the MTX in the 6th month was noted in 7 cases, under a MTX's average dose of 7,14mg / m2 / week. Unwanted effects were observed in 7 cases and have not in any case led to the stop of the treatment

The authors have proposed a protocole of the study of calcium, phosporus and hydroxyproline in fasting subjects, on the urine collected during two hours and brought back to creatinine. The study was done over 69 patients divided into 2 groups: 38 patients did not have any affection related to the phospho-calcic metabolism and were used as witnesses and 31 patients had bone trouble of various origins. The results of the study have shown that, on the one hand those results are in accordance with those published in books and that, on the other hand, there exists a good correlation between the values found on 24 hours urine collection and 2 hour urine collection. The good correlation which was got in this study and the easiness of its use lead us to be thinking of using it in usual practice, from now on
