ABSTRACT

There is difficulty to differentiate between different types of cerebellopontine angle [CPA] lesions with CT, here we try to use MR imaging to differentiate between different types of CPA lesions. The study included 30 patients out of 103 patients with intracranial space occupying lesions [SOL] that affecting different cranial nerves, each patient was submitted to full neurological examination and MR imaging including T1-weighted images [T1WI], T2-weighted images [T2WI], 3 dimensional balanced fast field echo [3D B-FE] imaging and post gadolinium [Gd] T1WI. According to MR findings we can classify CPA lesions into; 16 acoustic neuromas, one facial neuroma, six meningiomas, three epidermoid tumor, two arachnoid cyst, one basilar artery aneurysm and one 4[th] ventricle ependymoma with exophytic components into CPA. MR imaging can differentiate between different types of CPA lesions

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to define the treatment results and causes of failure including treatment toxicity in 48 patients with gestational trophoblastic diseases [GTD]. The clinical records of the patients were reviewed with regards to presentation, investigation, management and outcome. Thirty-nine patients received chemotherapy as they maintained high serum BHCG after suction and termination of molar pregnancy and other nine patients showed a progressive decline within one week and kept under follow up. Due to the relatively high toxicity of 4-day methotrexate outpatient schedule, it was recommended to shift to 1-day IV basis schedule. In case of extensive pulmonary metastasis, initial co-management with pulmonologist and ICU will be very beneficial to prevent ERD starting very carefully

ABSTRACT

The increasing]y popular magnetic resonance imaging technique is gaining grounds as an important diagnostic modality. The aim of this work was to evaluate its utility in the management of neuroblastoma. 30 neuroblastoma patients represented the general population of our work were subjected to various MRI imaging techniques together with the use of intravenous contrast medium. The results of the work revealed that MRI can play a beneficial role in the diagnosis, staging and monitoring the treatment response of neuroblastoma in different anatomical locations
