ABSTRACT
Several chalcones derivatives [1] were prepared from 2, 4-dimethoxyacetophenone, when beta-[4-substituted phenyl]-2, 4-dimethoxyacrylophenone [1] reacted with guanidine hydrochloride, thiourea and urea afforded aminopyrimidine [2], pyrimidinethione [7] and oxopyrimidine [8], respectively. Furthermore, compounds [2], [7] and [8] were subjected to different reactions yielding different pyrimidine derivatives. Representative members of these compounds were subjected to preliminary antimicrobial and antifungal screening and most of these compounds showed significant activities

An experimental study of the behavior of stable trochanteric fractures fixed with the dynamic hip screw under static loading was performed using twenty dry adult cadaveric femora. Fracture impacting occurred with screw sliding but was associated with some forward rotation of the proximal fragment around the screw axis. The implant bone assembly was found stable to loading higher than the average physiologic load of an average man. The clinical relevance of this study is that patients with stable trochanteric fractures fixed with the dynamic hip screw can safely do early weight-bearing
