ABSTRACT

Objective To determine the impact of dental nurses′knowledge sharing behavior and self-efficiency on professional identity. Methods A total of 88 dental nurses in Xiangyang were tested by Professional Identity Inventory for Nurse,Knowledge Sharing Behavior Scale and General Self-efficacy Scale. Results The mean score of professional identity was (5.60 ± 0.56) points, the mean score of knowledge sharing behavior was (2.59 ± 0.77) points, the mean score of general self-efficacy was (2.66 ± 0.46) points. Knowledge sharing behavior and self-efficiency were positively correlated with professional identity(r=0.626, 0.342, P<0.01). Regression analysis showed that the organizational communications, communities of practice, written contributions and general self-efficacy could explain 54.3% of the variance for dental nurses′professional identity. Conclusions Nursing managers should focus on the shortcomings of dental nurses′ knowledge sharing behavior and general self-efficacy, and promote interventions to enhance dental nurses′knowledge sharing behavior and general self-efficacy and improve the level of professional identity.

ABSTRACT

Objective To determine the impact of baccalaureate nursing students' psychological capital on core competency. Methods A total of 280 baccalaureate nursing students from a certain third-level and grade-A hospital in Tianjin were tested by the Chinese version CINS Scale and Chinese version of PsyCap Scale. The relationship between psychological capital and core competency was analyzed. Results The mean score of psychological capital was (4.365±0.773),the mean score of core competency was (5.379±0.744).There were significant positive correlations between psychological capital and core competency.Regression analysis showed that the self-efficacy,hope and optimism could explain 42.6% of the variance for baccalaureate nursing students' core competency. Conclusions Nursing educator and administrator should focus on the shortcomings of psychological capital, and take effective measures to enhance nursing students' psychological capital and improve the level of core competency.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the level and influencing factors of baccalaureate nursing students' core competency, and supply scientific reference for sustainable development of nursing career. Methods From May to June 2013,totally 280 baccalaureate nursing students from a third-level hospital in Tianjin were tested by the Chinese version of CINS edited by Li-Ling Hsu.Results The score of nursing students' core competency was (5.379±0.744),and the highest score was the moral and responsibility ability dimension (5.840 ±0.827),the lowest score was the critical thinking ability dimension (4.794 ± 1.105).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that ever finishing homework and preparing for the exam carefully, deciding the service units after graduation and gender were the influencing factors of nursing students' core competency. Conclusions Nursing students' core competency needs to be further improved.Nursing educators and managers should pay more attention to cultivate the nursing students' core competency, and develop strategies to enhance the level of baccalaureate nursing students' core competency.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the reliability and validity of Chinese version of the competency inventory for nursing students(CINS).Methods The competency inventory for nursing students was translated and revised in Chinese version.Totally,266 baccalaureate nursing students were tested by the Chinese version CINS.SPSS17.0 was used to test the reliability and validity. Results The Cronbach' s α of CINS was 0.966 and Cronbach' sα of each dimensionality was ranged from 0.827 to 0.951.The Split-half reliability of Guttman of CINS was 0.828 and Split-half reliability of Guttman of each dimensionality was ranged from 0.724 to 0.942.The test-retest reliability was 0.737 and the content validity was 0.956.The correlation coefficients among dimensionalities were ranged from 0.491 to 0.781 (P<0.01).The correlation coefficients between dimensionalities and the total scale were ranged from 0.738 to 0.884(P<0.01).Five factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, accounting for 66.404% of the total variance in the scale. Conclusion Chinese version of CINS is reliable and valid, and can be used to assess the competency of nursing students.

ABSTRACT

IFN-gamma and TNF-alpha were co-coupled to the polystyrene cell culture plate by the photo-immobilization method. To investigate the synergistic effect of IFN-gamma and TNF-alpha on the HeLa cells, HeLa cells were treated with co-coupled cytokine or non-coupled cytokine in a time course in this study. The morphology detection, cell cycle analysis by flow cytometry, phosphatidyl serine analysis and capase-3 activity detection demonstrated that the two kinds of treatments both induce HeLa cells apoptosis. Non-coupled cytokine worked more quickly while co-coupled cytokine kept more permanent effect. The caspase-3 activity assay indicated that the caspase-3 activity of HeLa cells treated with non-coupled cytokine is higher than that of HeLa cells treated with co-coupled cytokine. This may imply that co-coupled cytokine not only induces the caspase-dependent pathway, but also induces the caspase-independent pathway.
