ABSTRACT

A prospective study was done on 20 clubfeet operated on using a modified Carroll incision, which started medially at the base of the first metatarsal extending posteriorly below the medial malleolus to the tendo-Achilles curving it anteriorly and upward posterior to the lateral malleolus with extensive posteromedial and posterolateral release. Twelve patients with 20 clubfeet, their age ranged between 3-24 months, were included in the study. Functional evaluation was used. All patients were followed up for at least one year. Eleven feet had excellent results, six feet had good results and three feet had poor results. It was found that this incision gives a better exposure of the pathoanatomy of the clubfoot, especially the posteromedial and posterolateral ligament complex with easy skin closure

ABSTRACT

We present a case of sinus tract at the upper lateral part of the left thigh after open reduction and plating of fracture of the proximal femur. The patient was managed as a case of postoperative chronic osteomyelitis of the femur. The sinus discharge persisted after removal of the plate and screws. The patient recovered completely after excision of the tract without interfering with the bone
