ABSTRACT

Thirty eight eyes of 22 patients with primary congenital glaucoma were treated with goniotomy under direct visualization with goniolens [17 eyes] and with trabeculotomy ab externo [21 eyes] between May 1982 and February 1988. A single goniotomy could control the intraocular pressure in seven eyes, [41.2%], while a single trabeculotomy was successful in seventeen eyes, [81%]. Two goniotomies were successful in six eyes, [35.3%] while two trabeculotomies were successful in two eyes, [9.5%]. Three goniotomies were successful in one eye, [5.9%]

ABSTRACT

Twenty two patients [25 eyes] having uncomplicated senile cataract were operated upon by intracapsular cataract extraction with primary implantation of semiflexible and flexible anterior chamber lenses. Postoperative angle changes in three months duration were studied. Semiflexible lenses were associated with high incidence of coarse iris-haptic adhesions and peripheral anterior syhnechiae with rise in intraocular pressure. While flexible lenses showed fine iris-haptic adhesions and less incidence of peripheral anterior synechiae

ABSTRACT

Fifty eight patients with unilateral and bilateral soft cataract were subjected to careful study. Twenty four cases were congenital, 25 cases were traumatic and 9 cases were complicated making a total of 76 eyes. Thirty six eyes were managed using aspiration technique, 32 eyes by linear extraction, 4 eyes by intracapsular cataract extraction and one eye visual iridectomy, vision was improved in 84.2% of cases. The results of aspiration technique was better than the linear extraction so it can be considered as a suitable technique tor management of soft cataract

ABSTRACT

One thousand, eight hundred and fifty four children up to twelve years old were refracted under cycloplegic inorder to find out cases with a diffrence in refraction between both eyes one diopter or more, this difference was found in 263 cases, so the incidence of anisometropia in children was 14.19%, females were affected more than males, consanguinity present in 19.77% of cases, myopic anisometropia was common than hypermetropic and mixed types. After optical correcion we found that 109 cases were amblyopic, so incidence of amblyopia was 43.43% among anisometropic children, hypermetropic anisometropic cases more affected with amblyopia than others
