ABSTRACT

Objective The detection results of intestinal virus nucleic acid related to HFMD( hand, foot and mouth disease)from the anal swabs and throat swabs were compared so as to explore more effective methods for laboratory diagnostic of the disease. Methods Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR)was used to detect RNA of enterovirus 71(EV71),coxsackievirus A16(CA16),and other enterovirus (EV)in the paired samples. The virus detection results from the two sample types were compared to find out the miss rate in a single sample. Results The detection rates of EV71,CA16 and Non-EV71/Non-CV16 enterovirus (Non-EV71/Non-CV16 EV)in the anus swabs/ throat swabs were 17.25%/12.18%,4.03%/3.54% and 40.28%/45.32%,respectively. Obviously ,the detection rates of EV71 and CA16 in anal swabs were higher than those in throat swabs ,while the detection rates of Non-EV71Non-CV16 EV was lower than that in throat swabs. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Compared with the detection results of the paired samples ,the miss rate of a virus in a single sample type ranged from 10.33%to 36.27%. Conclusion The detection miss rates of HFMD related intestinal virus nucleic acid in one sample type(anal swabs or throat swabs)are high, while tak-ing the detection in the paired samples can significantly improve the detection rate.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To prevent and control iatrogenic infection accidents caused by peripheral blood sampling.METHODS The existing risk factors for hospital infection in peripheral blood sampling in laboratory were analyzed according to laws and rules of hospital infection management, and the hospital cross infection management and control ability in four aspects, including blood sampling material disinfection, laboratory environment sterilization, experimental personnel preparation before manipulation and biosafety treatment of inspection report sheets were enhanced.RESULTS When bacteriological monitoring of laboratory environment and staff hands reached the requirements of infection control, the peripheral blood sampling was assigned to specialized personnel, blood sampling appliance was autoclaved and replaced every 24 hours, and when the repealed specimens were disposed safely, risk factors for hospital infection were effectively controlled.CONCLUSIONS Grass-roots level clinical examination laboratory should enhance laws and rules study and professional moral education, establish corresponding manipulation rules and management measure according to the working characteristic of laboratory, and implement hospital infection management in every details.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To investigate syphilis serology detection methods suitable for high risk group. METHODS Treponema pallidum(TP-ELISA) and toluidine red un-hoated serum test(TRUST) combined screening methods were taken for sexually transmitted disease(STD) patients and suspicious cases with dirty sexual intercourse, and all the positive results were further confirmed by TPPA method. RESULTS The detection rate of TP-ELISA or TRUST method alons was 18.3% or 13.7%,respectively.The detection rate of the both methods was 20.8%.A percent of 12.0% in 108 cases that were detected positively by the combined screening methods were proved to be false positive by TPPA. CONCLUSIONS The combined screening methods of TP-ELISA and TRUST can reduce the escaping rate, while TPPA can exclude the false positive cases in screening period.Sensitivity and accuracy of syphilis detection can be ensured by taking TP-ELISA and TRUST combined screening with TPPA confirmation methods, which are without high cost and suitable for high risk group.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To investigate inspection report sheets preserving type and hand hygiene behavior among patients, and to discuss countermeasures to ensure medical safety for patients. METHODS Random sampling investigation was carried out between one experimental group, whose members were general clinic patients, and one control group, whose members were physical examinees for employment. Statistical analysis for the original data was taken by using SPSS software. RESULTS In the experimental group and in the control group respectively, the ratio of patients who had correct cognition on the biosafety of inspection report sheet was 66.90% and 78.72%,80.80% and 94.86% patients washed hands after touching inspection report sheets,71.00% and 87.00% patients suggested that biosafety label be tagged on the inspection report and hand washing facilities be supplied in the hospital. CONCLUSIONS The hospital is responsible to popularize the knowledge about hand hygiene behavior and hospital infection education,to append specific hand washing facilities, and to improve the patients' understanding of biosafety and hand washing compliance.
