ABSTRACT

Background and Purpose:dPET/CT is very expensive,so although the accuracy of hPET/CT is less than dPET/CT,it is better than CT,and is useful for guiding the tumor staging before operation. This paper is evaluate the role of ~(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose(FDG) hPET/CT in primary carcinoma of gastric cardia detection.Methods:26 patients with histologically proven primary carcinoma of gastric cardia underwent whole body hPET/CT imaging.Visual and semiquantitative analysis and standardized uptake value(SUV) were used to analyze the images. The results of hPET/CT study were compared with those of CT.Results:1.The sensitivity of hPET/CT in primary carcinoma of gastric cardia detection was 92.3%(24/26);two cases of signet ring cell carcinoma gave false negative results, and the primary lesions were small(

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the outcomes of video-assisted thoracoscopic(VATS)lobectomy for patients with clinical stage I lung cancer. Methods 30 patients with clinical stage I lung cancer underwent VATS lobectomy with complete mediastinal lymphadenectomy from November 1997 to October 2000.Male 19, female 11 ranged in age from 36 to 78 years with a mean of 63 1 years. Results No perioperative death occurred .Two cases(6 67%) were given blood fransfusion and complications were found in 4 coses(13 3%).During the follow-up period lasting 12 months to 45 months with a mean of 28 7 months the overall survival rate, when all stages were calculated, was 83 3%(25/30).For stage I survival rete was 90 9%(20/22). Conclusions VATS lobectomy with systemic lymphadenectomy is a safe and reliable approach for stage I lung cancer,by which an excellent long-term outcome can be achieved.

ABSTRACT

Purpose:To explore the expression of fatty acid synthase in non-small cell lung cancer and to detect its association with clinicopathological features and prognosis.Methods:107 patients with NSCLC who underwent surgery were followed up for more than 5 years.Fatty acid synthase were evaluated by immunohistochemisctry on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues and compared with benign lesion and normal tissue.Multiple clinical parameters and survival were analyzed. Results:In 107 patients with NSCLC,FAS expression was observed in 43 cases(40.2%).In contrast to benign lesions and normal tissue,FAS is significantly overexpressed in NSCLC.Survival analysis revealed that the 5-year survival rate was lower in FAS positive patients than in negative patients(16% vs 43%,p
