ABSTRACT

Behavioral adjustment plays an important role in the treatment and relapse of drug addiction. Nonetheless, few studies have examined behavioral adjustment and its plasticity following error commission in methamphetamine (METH) dependence, which is detrimental to human health. Thus, we investigated the behavioral adjustment performance following error commission in long-term METH addicts and how it varied with the application of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC). Twenty-nine male long-term METH addicts (for > 3 years) were randomly assigned to high-frequency (10 Hz, n = 15) or sham (n = 14) rTMS of the left DLPFC during a two-choice oddball task. Twenty-six age-matched, healthy male adults participated in the two-choice oddball task pretest to establish normal performance for comparison. The results showed that 10 Hz rTMS over the left DLPFC significantly decreased the post-error slowing effect in response times of METH addicts. In addition, the 10 Hz rTMS intervention remarkably reduced the reaction times during post-error trials but not post-correct trials. While the 10 Hz rTMS group showed a more pronounced post-error slowing effect than the healthy participants during the pretest, the post-error slowing effect in the posttest of this sample was similar to that in the healthy participants. These results suggest that high-frequency rTMS over the left DLPFC is a useful protocol for the improvement of behavioral adjustment after error commission in long-term METH addicts.

ABSTRACT

Objective More early esophageal cancers are treated by endoscopy.However,whether submucosal patients are suitahle for endoscopic treatment is still controversial,and few domestic researches were conducted in this area.The present study investigated the impact of submucosal invasion depth on lymph node metastasis.Methods A total of 258 patients who underwent esophagectomy from November 2009 to March 2014 were studied.Submucosal invasion was equally categorized into inner one-third(sml),middle one-third(sm2),and deep one-third(sm3) invasion by pathologists.Demographics of patients,tumor characteristics,and surgical information were retrospectively collected through medical records.They were compared according to different submucosal invasions.Cancer characteristics and its association with LNM were analyzed by univariate and multivariate analysis.Results The study included 75 sml (29.1%),73 sm2(28.3%),and 110 sm3(42.6%) patients,and the rates of LNM were 12.0% (9/75),11.0% (8/73),20.9% (23/110),respectively.sm3 might be associated with regional LN M (univariate analysis,P =0.041).Tumor volume > 1.856 cm3 (P =0.022) and lymphovascular invasion (P =0.004) predicted LNM using multivariate analysis.Conclusion Submucosal ESCC showed a substantial rate of LNM and it seems that they are not suitable for endoscopic treatment.Depth of invasion was not an independent risk factor for LNM.

ABSTRACT

Objective Satellite cells(SCs) transplant was tried to treat myocardium infarction(MI) in human.Methods 10 patients who affected by coronary artery disease(CAD) and MI were selected.A piece of muscle was taken away from their quadriceps femoris 2 weeks before surgical operation.SCs were extracted,purified,cultured by modified Dorfman method,and then transplanted into the MI area by intramyocardial injection after CABG.EKG,UCG,99cTc-SPECT cardiac blood pool imaging,18F-FDG myocardial perfusion imaging were examined before operation and 3 months after operation.The cell metabolism status in the MI area were observed and LVEF were measured and analyzed by paired-samples t test with SPSS13.0 statistics software.Results After cultured in vitro for3 days,SCs were spindleshaped,and sticked to walls.SCs growth was stasis,fused into each other,and formed myotube when the cells were delayed to divide Petri dish or the concentration of fetus bovine serum(FBS) in the culture medium was reduced.Average 2.7 blood vessel bypass were established in these patients.SCs were transplanted merely in one patient whose coronary arteries were extensively sclerosed.No patients died in hospital.Heart function of these patients were recovered to NYHA I 3 months after operation.Their symptoms of angina pectoris were disap peared and quality of life was improved obviously.The cell metabolism activity was appeared again in the MI area 3 months after operatio(including the patient without CABG).LVEF were increased(9.70±4.17)% than preoperation.There is significant deviation between them(P<0.01).Conclusions Autograft of SCs can be alive in the MI area,and SCs can improve the heart function by participating the heart's systole and diastole activity directly or by altering cardiac compliance and stimulating the blood capillary proliferation.

Objective To investigate the protective effect of prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) on platelet during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).Methods A total of 24 patients undergoing cardiac valve replacement were randomly divided into the experimental group (n=12) and the control group (n=12).The levels of thromboxane B2 (TXB2) and 6-keto-prostaglandin F1?(6-K-PGF1?) in serum were measured at different intervals during and after CPB. ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effects of Shenqi Bufeitang on expessions of metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) in the airway remodeling of COPD rat model with lung-Qi deficiency syndrome. Methods Quantitative stimulation with tobacco,SO2 and papin was made to establish COPD rat model with lung-Qi deficiency syndrome. Sixty male rats were randomly divided into normal group (N),model group (M),low dose treatment group (LT),medium dose treatment group (MT),high dose treatment group (HT) and glucocorticoid treatment group (GCT). The thicknesses of the airway wall and smooth muscle layer of the small airway were measured by means of image analyzer. The protein expressions of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 were examined by immunohistochemical analysis. ABSTRACT

Objective Satellite cells(SCs) transplantation was tried to improve cardiac function in this experiment.Methods A myocaridium infarction was created in 23 male Suzhong pigs by ligating the diagonal ramus,and the alive pigs were divided into the experimental group and the control group.SCs were extracted,purified,cultured by modified Dorfman method,and were transplanted into myocardium by intramyocardial injection.By pathomorphological research,we observed the therapeutic outcomes of heart failure.Results ⑴10 pigs were alive(5 in the control group,and the other 5 in the experimental group).The successful rate of making mould was 43 5%.⑵After cultured in vitro for 3 days,SCs were spindle-shaped,and sticked to walls.SCs growth were stasis and each other fusing into form myotube when we delayed to divede Petri dishs or reduced the concentration of Fetus Bovine Serum(FBS) in the culture medium.⑶In the experimental group,neonate skeletal muscle cells were observed in the infarction regions,which were multi-nuclei near edges.These cells aligned in an accordance direction.Intercalated disks were not found between them.The capillary density in experimental group was much higher than the control group.Conclusions Autograft of SCS can be alive in acceptor,and improve the heart function by altering cardiac compliance and configuration,or by stimulating the blood capillary proliferation.SCs don't form intercalated disks with remnant myocardial cells,so synchro-contraction will not occur between them,but malign arrhythmia are not found.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of plateletpheresis on blood conservation following cardiopulmonary bypass.Methods 20 patients undergoing open heart surgery were divided randomly into experiment and control groups.All patients underwent routine CPB.Plateletpheresis was performed in experiment group by using COBE SPECTRA.Other blood conservation approaches were similar in two groups.Results The number of platelets collected in experiment group exceeded 20% of total platelets of every patients.In the experiment group,less transfusion was need.The changes of Hb and Hct at every time point were similar in the two groups.Platelet counts,aggregation,and prothrombin time in the experiment group restored to preoperative levels significantly earlier than in the control group.The chest tube drainage at 2,4,8,and 16 h and the total drainage after operation were significantly lower in the experiment group than those in the control group.Conclusion By protecting platelets from destruction by extracorporeal circulation,plateletpheresis is beneficial to the recovery of haemostatic system.It is a useful blood conservation method.
